Title: Oh my!!! the pain we have to go thru
Post by: warlockmaker on December 13, 2013, 02:22:11 AM
Before I started the transition I looked carefully at so many issues. I wanted to go thru the whole process and look like a female and the process would involve FFS, Hair electrolysis, breast augmentation, and SRS. So PAIN was the consideration.
Not more than 6 years ago I avoided injections and had a fear of seeing doctors. Then I found a great GP with fab beside manners and soon doctors and checks and injections were no longer a problem. I was in fantastic health. So it started – had a facelift and the pain was negligible but the horrible reaction to morphine made so so sick after surgery. Then came the electrolysis for facial hair - I had laser done many years prior – but this involved needles and hundreds of them each session. So I worked up the courage and began – lo and behold it was quite bearable and 12 months on I've gotten used to the pain, without and medication, it's the endorphins I'm told. So next is part 2 of my FFS, breast augmentation and SRS. I do expect pain but I'm surprising myself to date I do hope I keep being pleasantly surprised but I'm prepared for what needs to be done.

Oh my!!! - the pain we endure for our dreams to come true.

The pain we endure is far less than the pain of being 'him' IMO.

I hated morphine too.  It was overall slightly worse than the pain from abdominal surgery for me.  Next time I have surgery I will need to work that out with the hospital staff in advance.  Thanks for the reminder- I'm getting my facial things worked out in March.

All that pain was something I knew about conceptually but in reality its much much different than I imagined.  It waaaay worse but way worth it!  8)

Very true. But can you think of a better use for the money?  :)

Yes it's painful in many ways, but the happiness now opening up on this journey are beyond words.

Electrolysis is actually almost pleasurable, and kind of like a slightly tingly facial massage.  Although I do fear the genital electrolysis, yet if there's pain it'll still be worth the results.

But when it comes to the actual operations there's more concern.  I nearly died from standard pain blockers after the last operation (codeine derivatives) but there are supposed to be good alternatives that aren't codeines or opiates.  Sure hope so.  Plus, with a generally high pain threshold and good attitude I'm keeping a positive outlook that everything will be ok. :)

As far as the trans issues I would say twice as much as the other girls I saw in junior high. Some had it worse. As life goes on and you get older though it seems like the cons increase for a lot?
