Hey all,
I'm getting top surgery in a month. I'm getting surgery with dr Kathy Rumer in Ardmore pa. I made a video about my pre op appointment and what to expect. I'll upload it soon. I want to keep updating this because she isn't super well known. Has anyone else had surgery with her or having it? What are your experiences?

Congrats first of all. I'm glad you're having you're surgery. I'll also be around 2 years on T when I am able to get mine done soooo I don't feel too bad now, lol. I do look forward to seeing your results if you decide to share them and I'd like to hear of your experiences with that surgeon. I'm planning on going to a little known surgeon too so it's nice to see others do the same, best of luck.

When is your surgery date, Darrin? I'm pretty sure you and I will be having both our surgeries around the same time. Mine is on the 24th January.

Good luck, Darrin. I met someone (do not know him well), who went to Rumer. I know that he is pleased with his surgery, but I did not see his chest.

Darrin, I just thought of you, so I jumped online. Is there any possibility your surgery will be canceled since it is in Philly/close to Philly because of the snow? What time is your surgery? How close are you to the surgi center/hospital where you are getting it done?

Yeah had a friend who had to reschedule because his surgeon had jury duty. Seems a LOT stranger than a snow storm. I'm sure it will be soon.

Well, it's like, what can you do? A frigid snow storm came and the surgery center is shut down as is my surgeons office. It's just life. Hopefully I'm not waiting another month for a new date.

That's a good attitude to have. I think I'd be disappointed, but in a year a few days/weeks one way or the other is not going to matter in the slightest.

Thanks all! Got a question. I'm not draining much. I'm only draining like 1/4cc and under and today we only changed them once. Yesterday, 3 times. Is this normal?

As long as you are sure you have a vacuum. Before you put the top on the grenade :) be sure to squeeze it really really tight. Squeeze it vertically and then horizontally like you are trying to put it in a really small duffle, that's what Leland does (at New Beginnings) and he knows his stuff. I didn't have much, more than that, but not much. I only changed it 3 times the first day and only twice the second and after that once.

As long as you are doing it right like Jay described, then don't worry. People drain varying amounts of fluids.

^Same. I had hardly any fluid coming out and they took my drains out completely after just 3 days.

I have another question. I have a little burning sensation where my right drain hole is. Is this normal? I also have bruising right under my arm pits. Which might be from the actual procedure.

Glad to hear that your pain levels are dropping off!
What does the area around the drain hole look like? I had a little blister on my skin just above the hole itself from the tube rubbing against me.

Thanks guys. Pain is totally manageable. I'm off all heavy duty pain meds. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow (monday) to see if I can get the drains out early. I'm draining like an 8th of liquid a day.
