Title: 3 weeks post op and having a little smelly question
Post by: Zoi on December 24, 2013, 03:53:24 AM
Hi I'm 3 weeks post op my surgeon was dr.chett non inversion /scrotal graft method .
So far I'm happy with my depth , swellin is going slowly can't find my clit lol but it's ok I'll find it once I'm healed . My question is :
Things smell a bit bad down there is it normal ? No itch at all just healing discharges . Will it stop after 3 months ? I'm following instructions douching twice a week betadine and water . And shower twice and only use intimate are cleansers the ones the don't kill the good bacteria ph balanced I guess .

So is it normal to be a bit smelly down there while healing ?

as it's quite damp and warm inside and all those stitches and skin edges will take time to heal up - just the way a cut finger will heal slower under a plaster than if left bare - plus you may also be dribbling a little urine from the upset pee tube - so there will be a lot of oozes that bacteria love so just keep on the douching and give it time.

one thing I learned was that the basic little douche bottle with short tube with backward facing openings was not very good at getting into the end of my new vagina so that I am sure the end wasn't cleaned as thoroughly as it could have been.

I now use a SuperStreem douche with end opening so the jet washes me right up to the end.

If you're really concerned you can get it looked at by any competent doctor, but that early on everything is still healing and the dead skin is shedding, so some icky discharges and smells are normal.

Be careful with the "intimate washes," though; some use perfumes and dyes that can irritate delicate, healing tissues. I was told by Brassard to use nothing but unscented antibacterial soap to wash the outside, and not to wash inside with anything but the douches.

(The Betadine itself has a smell, btw. Harmless, but you may want to sniff it and see if you think it's contributing!)

Thanks ladies, I'll stop the intimate wash .  The smell isn't that bad I have no signs of any infections lol maybe I'm being paranoid . And yes I think it's the betadine
