Title: This is awkward but.. stretch marks, what do you do?
Post by: WhiteDustWolf on December 24, 2013, 05:55:50 PM
Okay, so there's this one thing that has been bugging me for a while now. I'm not comfortable mentioning it to anyone IRL but I figured maybe you guys here could help me? *crosses fingers* Okay, so I'm FtM pre-everything for the moment and I reaaaally want top surgery ASAP, but those days when I can sort of look at my chest without going instantly super dysphoric I remember that I've had some sort of stretch marks there or whatever for the longest time. Sure they are faint and you don't really pay attention to them unless you are up close but.. I'm just worried it might look really weird/unnatural or ugly when I finally get the surgery, you know.. I don't think (cis)guys really have these and it's starting to really eat at my mind. A lot.

I just wonder if I'm overworrying about this and if someone else have/had the same problem? Would it look out of place after the surgery and is there any way to get rid/fade off the marks?

i know a cis guy who has some and I have heard its not uncommon in men that gain weight fast.  The guy I knew, got big really fast working out and had stretch marks on his chest from his chest doubling in size...so its not uncommon

Anyone can get stretch marks, it's not related to which gender you are. Plenty of guys have them. :)

If they really bother you, there are creams which reduce the visibility of them, and claim to remove them altogether (I stress the word 'claim'). There are also laser procedures to improve the appearance. Just google 'Stretch Mark Removal' and see what comes up.

You're not the first man in the world to have stretch marks & you wont be the last, i've known a few people who lost weight once they left school & now have stretch marks so don't panic

Yep,

Stretch marks from weight gain, either as fat or muscle happen to cis-men (and even a few MTFs).  One you remove the offending parts, some of the marks may go away as a result of skin being removed.  Bulk up a little after and they could even be attractive to a partner.

I don't think the stretch marks will look ugly or unnnatural at all. It's pretty common for guys to get stretch marks in the arms and the chest area. A lot of guys who work out even covet having stretch marks in those places because it shows muscle growth so having stretch marks as a guy is definitely not viewed as a bad thing. It's kind of the opposite, actually.

Everyone can get them. I have several on my knees from growing too fast when I was a kid, and my husband has some on his chest from rapid muscle gain.

I had a TON of stretch marks on my boobs when I gained tons of weight. Literally, it was like a web almost lol. They are entirely gone after...a year and a half or so? I had some on my belly and they all faded too. If you're young especially they should fade.

As everyone else has said, both men and women can get stretch marks basically anywhere on their bodies where weight can be put on or lost quickly. I have them around the crest of my pelvis bones from dropping like 30 lbs in 4 weeks time at a time in my life when I was extremely stressed. Now I just call them my tiger strips haha. Actually they do kinda looks like strips and they remind me that I made it through a really crappy time in my life and survived.

i was wondering, is it normal for men to have stretch marks in buttocks? since they don't really put much fat there? mine look like a zebra. very obvious stripes arranged in a beautiful pattern. do i have to do something about it?

I played football at the University of Nebraska - 1981 [Go Huskers] (then I broke my collarbone which would not heal correctly).  Some of the guys ghad stretch marks on their buttocks from doing squats and the hip sled.  It is uncommon but does happen.

Be lucky if they are on your butt. Only a lover will see that and if you get them that far a few lines shouldn't matter.
