2013 marked my first Christmas with my parents since I became independent and started living full time 2 years ago. My parents knew I was living as my true self and though they haven't really been vocally supportive, they have told me before that they only care that I am happy and have shown support through assisting me through a few scrapes.
My parents misgendered me about half the time. Same went for using my old name. But each time they screwed up they would catch themselves, apologize and use the correct pronoun/name. One time when I went to use the powder room, my fiancé (this was the first time she met them in person) asked them how much of my family knew of my transition. They informed her that all my family is either supportive or neutral but loves me and wants to hear from me.
My mother went on to mention to my fiancé that "she looks and sounds fantastic and her mannerisims are all woman. No one would ever know she wasn't born that way unless she explicitly told them", my father nodding his head in agreement the whole time. The next day my father went on to say as I was describing changes on HRT "This may sound weird coming from your old man but honey, you have nothing to worry about, you're a babe!"
I feel like the luckiest woman in the world and that I have won the lottery when it comes to family!

This was my first Christmas as Paula. My whole family was so supporting. They made a fuss over me. Other than my dad, it is also a family of women. They showered me with presents, all of them saying I was by far the most fun to shop for. It was a great Christmas, and really helped reinforce that all this is worth it. My dad is quite old, so I forgave the misgendering from him, but everyone else got it 100%.
I'm glad your family was great to you too!
