Title: Hi, feeling kinda lost and overwhelmed
Post by: AlisonPen on January 02, 2014, 12:33:15 PM
Hi :) I'm AlisonPen at least for now I'll go by that since I like the names  Alison and Penelope.

I'm 30 and finally got tired of lying to myself and others. Well I'm still lying to a lot of people :embarrassed: but I've so far told my 2 closest friends (well one already knew I was denying this feeling) as I knew they'd be understanding and my wife that I just didn't feel like "a man" and have felt like I was given the wrong body :embarrassed:.  The biggest factor that makes me feel overwhelmed is I have a kid and another on the way, I'm almost 100% certain if I decided to transition my wife would leave...  I'm not really sure where this will end or how far I'll want to go before I feel truly happy with myself but I figured joining a community that could help would be a big step in lessening the overwhelmed and lost feeling.

Welcome Alison.  Glad you found us.

We have quite a few members here in your same situation.  Spouses and kids.  I will not sugarcoat it, but these are additional complications for any TG/TS person who considers transition.

But with open and honest dialogue, they are not insurmountable obstacles.  You will find stories here of some who have succeeded in holding families together, and those who have not.

I wish you the very best.

A big warm welcome to the family! I know how you feel, I just lost my family before the holidays. My kids are 15 and 16 getting ready to go to college, but I wish they would have hung around for another two or three before they did. Transition has a cost baby, a BIG one for some of us. It is just one of the things you have to consider in this. I look forward to getting to know you better in the post's. Don't hesitate to PM for any specific questions you may have.

Welcome, I am new here as well. I can sympathize with you. I was married with young son, and hoped I could keep my feelings buried. I was wrong, as the intensity of wanting to be myself gets so much stronger with each passing day. If ever want to "chat" hope to see you on here in chat room maybe.

Oh I know  :-\ for now I'm just seeing how things go "self medicated" through cross dressing (this weekend I'll be going out dressed up with a friend yay, granted my face will be covered as it's a cosplay but I'm excited to go out and hopefully pass).  For now beyond the clothes I only foresee spending money on a psychologist down the line.  From there who knows I'm sort of just going based off what I've read so far from other people's stories and trying to plan for anything that might happen with me :)

Welcome to the family, Alison Penny.

Hard to know where anyone's road will lead, but we'll be here for you every step of the way. I promise.
