Title: Weight and moobs

I'm hoping to start hrt in the next month or so and have been very self conscience about my weight (I'm 5'11'' and average weight 'was' around 150lbs). I'm pretty average in build but I have a lil bit of a gut from beer and small moobs. I've been dieting for a month now, went from 197 down to 186. I'm trying to get rid of my gut and moobs before hrt because i heard that it stays there even during hrt. Don't know if I can get back to around 150 before I start but was wondering what effect does having some moobs before hand has. Does that fat stay there or does it become boob fat and help with breast development?

This isn't a medical opinion by any means, but I think my moobs have helped my breast development along. But that could just be me.

There are two related conditions along these lines. Gynecomastia and pseudo-gynecomastia.
"Moobs" are often an expression of pseudo-gynecomastia, wherein the breasts are comprised primarily of adipose (fat) tissue. True gynecomastia is often evidenced by the formation of glandular tissue, such as lobules and ducts.
You need some adipose tissue to have a properly formed, esthetic breast. When you consider female athletes with a very low ratio of body fat, they often lack breasts.

Female breasts have fat in them, too. I think about 2/3 of the average female breast is fat, in fact.
What having moobs meant for me was that at 5 days on HRT, I suddenly had perky, visibly female 40A-cup breasts. ;) Basically, as soon as I had breast buds, everything perked up and starting looking breast-like. I have NO complaints about having a bit of a head start. Also, moobs can be a sign of a body with overactive estrogen receptors and/or a lot of circulating estrogen - meaning a body that takes to HRT unbelievably well.

This has been my experience as well.

Hhmm.... I hope my body does take to hrt unbelievably well, that'll make it easier. Just got several more steps to take before i can start HRT.

I have lost a lot of weight. I started out at a 46C. Now, close to 100 lbs lost, I'm 38DD. I think they helped. I also kept some of the leg/but fat and that has helped with my shape. However, look at the body shape of your nearest female relatives: if they are hour glass types, start HRT. The mobs will help breast development. It they are Ovoid, maybe keep losing a little weight.

Im in a similar boat with the same question. I too am 5'11". Historically (say 15 years ago) I averaged 160. Then I got the freshman 15, plus the "my mom died 45". And I hovered around 220 for a decade. Finally back down to 164. Only last time around most of that weight was muscle. This time, not so much (fine by me). So Ive kept the moobs I had grown.. Small B cup... And I sadly kept the muffin top and flabby thighs... So my hope, which all the comments seem to validate, is that the moobs provide an excellent foundation for boob growth on hormones.

And btw, those first months on HRT are still very good in terms of loosing weight. Your T levels will drop but it wont be dramatic overnight drop-down, but rather a very slow and gradual shift and You will be able to "abuse" the crazy metabolism which You had from T for quite some time. I was very active into jogging before and during HRT (I still am) and I remember that my speed did not decrease for until I was somethere in 3-4 months of HRT.
And this gives me hope for losing the muffin top! Yay! ;D

I think "moobs", I hate that word so much uggh lol, are a great thing to have going into hrt. As someone said it's nothing wrong with having a slight head start.
I'm 5'7 about 220, I'm overweight for my height, most of the weight is in my gut and hrt put the rest between my thighs. I was about 190 something before starting hrt so obviously I had a bit of moob going on. Also I had some duct development from starting hrt @ 17 which added to everything. When I went back on hrt last yrs things seemed to grow like crazy in the breast area. I'm a b cup now going into c hopefully. I think I'm having another growth spurt. But I can say I wouldn't be the size I am now without the fat I had already on my chest.

You'll be surprised at how things turn out when you loose weight. I lost 75lbs and started about the same time I want on HRT. Had true gynecomastia and fatty moobs on top of that, but after 18 months HRT the breast shape has become very feminine, and much more pleasing. Plus my breasts no longer have that "side-sag". Used to measure 46/52 because of fat and gyno., and now I'm 40/46. Wear a 42D for comfort, and find my 40D, and 42C bras are getting a bit too tight. :)
