Susan's Place Transgender Resources

I added this photo of me in very bad light after I woke today to highlight a few lines/darker areas on my facial skin. My question is this, will hrt reduce A or B. Or will it only soften B out? I could not find info on this anywhere. In fact there is very little as to what it will do to sections of the face in older people like me :(

HRT does nothing for bone, weight loss and E will soften and change facial muscle.

35 is a young chick BTW!!!

But I feel old. My evil little children wear me out so I lack sleep being a single parent  :P

I have to say while there are changes, it's not nearly as profound as I'd like, but I really don't hate my face, I have other attributes that bother me.

Yoy arent older. Im older, just turned 56. HRT, long term will soften your skin and make it finer, more like a female. These incredibly minor things on your face can be taken care of by a dermatologist likely. If not, surgery but I hardly think you need to be worrying over that at your age. Honestly, I could probably cover them up with a little make up skillfully applied.

Guess what. Thats what girls do.

You should feminize quite nicely. Your face is not terribly masculine but if you have the money and nerve anything can be corrected. But later, after a few years on hormones.

Missy, you look much different, feminine and female in the second, which can't be said about the first photo at all! And girl, if you were happy with every 'attribute' you have, you'd be in a microscopic minority. There isn't enough money, time or plastic surgery on the planet that would make me 100% satisfied with my body and face, so I'm just going to have to be happy with what I have. Sarah, I agree with Cindy about weight loss and E. There are pretty big changes in store if you're motivated to lose weight, but we're all born with heredity and poisoned by testosterone, so you can't expect to look like Heidi Klum and neither will any of us. Just be patient, but diet, and you'll see some lovely changes. The most hopeful thread on all of Susan's Place is the 'Before and After' thread. Some of the changes border on miraculous. hugs, Mira

I'm 48 in the left picture and 51 in the right picture. I've been on low dose HRT for about 4.5 years and on a transitioning dose since Oct 8th. I think that you can see the changes. Sorry about the blurry pic on the left.

There is no way I would put you at 51....the one pic where your 48...you look older in but still not 51, but hard to tell with the blur.

The one downside to being a women is that women do not age as gracefully as men. We just get old...men get distinguished!!

I am no spring chicken 40 something???...pre transition most would guess my age anywhere from 26 at the lowest OMG!! up to 3 years younger than my true age. Now most still think I look younger than I am but I have had a few men! UGH! go over!! or come very close. I think some of it is wishful thinking on their part hoping I am in their age range....horny old men!!

Hi Sarah,

HRT will soften your features in general.  Where it does so is subtle, and hard to define.  I've been on low dose for 22 months now and look younger than my given age, and I'm in the 35-40 bracket.

In answer to your question, the area around your brow is more due to folding of the skin from the underlying muscle tensing.

The area under your eyes almost seems like venous pooling.  This can often occur as a result of chronic upper airway obstruction.  If you happen to have high blood pressure and your BMI is on the high side, a bit of weight loss may resolve the issue, but if you have any concerns on that front, a visit to the ENT to screen for sleep apnea may not be remiss.

I have been checking all of our "fine wine ladies" or "over 35s" and I am taken back at how well people have done, it is very inspiring.

PS added a photo of myself with my cheapo wing, make up and edited out the background (had photos of my kids in it >.<) to see what I look like lol... thank god its blurry.

Honestly, while HRT helps (on for 6 months), I've gotten far more mileage from weight loss, hair growth, electrolysis, and eyebrow shaping. I'd post a before/after but too new yet to post pics per policy.

there is a lot of water under the bridge for me, but HRT has made me believe in rebirth.

a smiling face looks good regardless of age.
