Title: Hormones on NHS post SRS

Hi Everyone, I have just got back from Thailand with my daughter who had SRS there. She is so much happier already despite having found the procedure really, really painful. We returned with a letter from the surgeon explaining what had been done and stating that she will now need to be on hormones for the rest of her life for her health. In my ignorance I assumed that she would now, finally, be able to have hormones properly prescribed and monitored by the NHS.
On our return she saw her GP and requested a hormone prescription. Her GP contacted the GID clinic in Nottingham and was told not to prescribe them. I am flabbergasted, shocked and actually really really angry. To me this seems like a clear case of discrimination because of her gender. If a cissexual man or woman needs hormones for health, say after a hysterectomy or whatever then they would be prescribed.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding this. Does it sound like sexual discrimination? How can I fight it?

Did they give any indication on why the gender clinic said to reject them?? I don't have any advice other than to get all the information on what's going on that way you can adequately prepare yourselves.

Hormones are essential to your daughters health.
The GP must prescribe whether he/she likes it or not.
Have your daughter call the GP and insist on blood tests to check present hormone levels and emphasize to the GP that it is essential her estro/testo levels are in the normal female range .
Call your local NHS Authority and let them know the will be in deep trouble if they fail in their duty.
As it is simple failure in duty of care there will be many lawyers willing to take the case on.
