Hello, Alex here.

I plan to have my top surgery sometime this year, seems like I will be able to afford it. I will have about $7,000 saved up soon which I think it is about that much for top surgery, generally. I was thinking going to Florida to Dr. Garramore, but I have heard he leaves some bad dog ears for bigger guys. Seeing as I am a bigger guy and want to get rid of the dog ears I already have I want a surgeon that can do just that. I was looking into Dr Medalie, seems like a good surgeon, but I started to think going out of state will cost me so much more. I only have just enough for the surgery itself. So do any of you have suggestions of surgeons that have done top surgery in the TX area? Someone who has done a good job for bigger guys like myself and that is willing to fix mistakes (if any, hopefully no mistakes are made. That would make them a bad surgeon, haha) with little to no cost?

Please share pictures, or experiences, and costs of surgeries if you do not mind.

There is Dr Peter Raphael (and another doctor or two at the American Plastic Surgery Institute). Several guys have been to him here in NM. I think he is in Plano or Dallas. You might look at results and compare with what you look like.
To me once I go out of town, I might as well go somewhere I want to go. But if I lived in the area then I might feel differently.
There are some youtubers who went to him, also might be able to find results on transbucket (you have to join but it's easy).

I don't know if Dr Raphael does better with bigger guys (esp if obese). This is a really hard problem and I don't know that what I have read about Dr G is actually fair, given just that I have read one negative. But you should look at results comparing chests that are similar to yours.

Thank you for your input. I am looking at his work now. Some work looks okay, and I saw a video of a guy who is similar body size as me, and looks really good. Apparently the type of surgery he had was combined with liposuction to get rid of the fatty tissue in your chest, which is the problem I have. Looked good, and also is a lot closer to me. 4 hour drive but better than paying an extra grand for travel, stay, and food. Plus, it is easier to go for check-ups and such. I hope there is more guys that have done surgery with him that can share their experiences.

Living in the DFW area, this is probably where I'll eventually wind up having mine done, so I'd also love to hear from anyone who's had top surgery with Dr. Raphael.

Dr. Gary Lawton is in San Antonio, TX. Don't know what his revision policy is, but he has before-and-after photos on his website, some bigger guys included.
