Hi, everyone. I know that massage is good for scars. I was using Bio Oil, but have recently learned that this is not the safest product. http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product/160511/Bio-Oil_Scar_Treatment/
I am wondering if anyone knows of a healthy oil that I could rub into my skin in order to massage the scars. I don't want to use regular lotion. I really would like an oil product.
I am not looking for a product that reduces/lightens scars (I have my Scar Away for that), I just want something that would stay slippery on my skin for massage and is safe. I am thinking that there is probably some sort of plant extract that is healthy to massage in to one's skin.
Any suggestions?

Jojoba oil? Maybe from a health food store. Never read it was bad in any way. Perhaps a natural seed oil of some kind (like rose hip oil).

Just read this might be a source of Vit E. Not sure what natural oil isn't come to think of it. Why not just massage with the silicone or get some silicone lube. If you don't like massaging your scars with it, it has other uses. LOL

Thanks for your thoughts, Jay. I spoke to someone who knows about this stuff (a holistic health counselor), and I think I am going to pick up either sweet almond oil or Avocado oil. I am going to go to the co-op this weekend and see if I can find some there.

Sounds like you asked someone who would know this stuff. Let me know what you think.

Hey, I'm a massage therapist! SO, the best for moisturizing is going to be coconut oil, but it's not really the best for prolonged lubrication. For that jojoba oil works, but it's also REALLY expensive. The best thing I've found, and I actually like it even more than jojoba oil, is Grape Seed Oil. I use it for all my clients and they rave about it. You can but it as a "massage oil," but it's going to be pricey that way, mostly because of the packaging. OR, you can do what I do and just buy it as a food product. Grape Seed Oil in the bath and body section of a store is going to be about $16. In the food part of the store it will be about $3, and it's EXACTLY the same thing in a different bottle. Also, I don't know if you have a dog, but they love it. You don't want to like, feed them a tablespoon or anything, but anytime I have a client with a dog the dog attacks me afterwards to lick my hands cause they think grape seed oil is the best stuff ever. Hope that helps!

Hey, Hopper. Thank you so much for the information. I am going to check it out!
