Why is it that when you're depressed, all you can see and dwell upon is the negative?
I feel myself slipping into a depressive state and I don't like it. I'm indifferent about most everything. I'm seeing my friends in a cold light, as I'm imagining them not wanting to spend any time at all with me but other friends, they do.
Could be the time of year, I get this way this time of year sometimes and I hate it. Last time it happened was 6 years ago. Just couldn't get any peace as if my brain was running non-stop about junk and I got back into cutting after years of not having done so (and I haven't had the urge to cut since that time 6 years ago)
I just don't like this space. Maybe I need a real day off or an SAD light or something.
Thanks for reading and I'm sorry to have taken up your time.

If you live in a warm climate, get out and exercise, jog, walk, bike rides. Cold climate, maybe a gym unless you have some exercise equipment at home.
Yoga or meditation (it can clear away the junk stuff so you can work on the real things and issues in life that matter).
Interests and hobbies, join a group.
You may have a point about getting a SAD light.
Depression is a part of mental health to be taken seriously. If you are in a large community/town/city there may be a facility for this or seek out a psychologist.
Take care & be good to yourself. Think positive thoughts.
Just a few thoughts.

Kia Ora Michelle,
What normally happens is when a person comes out of their depressed state, they go back to doing what they normally do and don't think much of the depression(well they try not to)...However the best time to get on top of bouts of depression, ie, the window of opportunity is when one has a more balanced mind set and is thinking more rationally-(in between the bouts) this is the time to start doing more positive things like meditation, exercise, etc (as Jamiep mentioned)... By doing so, one builds up a resistance so to speak...
With meditation you have a tool which will help train the mind to relax and one tends to see things more clearly...
So when that window of opportunity arrives make the most of it, don't waste it...
