So... I'm beginning to plan ahead and, at the moment, see LHR for my chest in the future. I'd rather not be the girl with furry boobs. ::)

I'm curious to hear people's experiences with this:

-how does it compare, pain-wise, to LHR on the face?
-how much reduction in fur-cover can I expect long-term on E?

I haven't gone there yet, but I would try waxing 2-3 times before you go there.  If you're on HRT, they often grow back finer or possibly even not at all.  Waxing is much cheaper.

I had a scary amount of chest and abdomen hair when I started. Unfortunately, I did not start LHR until after I had started HRT. My breasts started to develop extremely quickly. Let me tell you, the pain of that laser on budding breasts is no joke! I would use a whole bottle of numbing cream and would still scream. I strongly recommend you start LHR on your chest prior to your breasts budding. If it is not possible, make sure you get numbing cream.

As for the pain compared to the face, I thought the chest hurt more. I barely felt the LHR on the face. I still need to do some electro on the face, and I hear that hurts a bit more.

Yikes! I found facial LHR to be the most painful experience of my life.  :o

  I'm nearing the end of a twelve-session monthly plan.  The first half was done on a very loud machine with a rather small emitter surface.  This meant a lot of zaps per session to cover the area.  It was significantly less painful than my face but still felt like going through a sewing machine because of the number of zaps.  It caused quite a lot of small welts.  The tech said I had a very high pain tolerance versus their other clients.

  The first place went out of business so I had to move on to another salon.  I'm sure glad for it too.  The new machine is almost dead-silent and virtually painless.  While it certainly helped that I'd had a head start from the first six sessions, this machine is clearly different and more modern.  It also has a much wider emitter so there are substantially fewer zaps required.  This speed and comfort gave me the courage to go full-body for my sessions, only excluding my head and the private regions.  My chest hair wasn't bad to begin with but it took very unkindly to shaving and regrowth causing severe irritation and ingrowns.  This has completely changed since the hair has become more fine and much of it is gone for good.  The most persistently coarse hairs are around my areolas but I'm feeling absolutely no additional pain from the laser ever since the HRT soreness in my boobs began.  Maybe it's just the machine in question but after initially being terrified at the prospect of lasering my armpits I've found it virtually painless.

  Just to be clear about the timeline, about two-thirds of my laser treatment came before starting HRT.  I wanted to be able to clearly tell how much effect the laser was having on the various areas before mixing in HRT.  Now that I'm on HRT I can't easily say what is affecting the remaining hair.  I can only say that it is massively reduced and very patchy.  Everything is kept shaved now because otherwise it would be very uneven, not just because I like it bare now.

I have a Tria which I use on pretty much everywhere...though not quite everywhere:)

Compared to the face the chest area is not intense at all. And here along with the legs below the knee have been the easiest to clear. I'm fairly hairy btw.

I've been on HRT for nine months and while I've had many pleasant changes, changes in my body hair (which is not too dense but particularly dark and thick) is not yet amongst them.  I usually keep my chest shaven but tend to have problems similar to what Violet describes in terms of irritation and ingrown hairs.

So as it happens I have an appointment in just over a week to get both my face and chest done.  I'll let you know how things turn out.  I'm anxious to see how the pain compares between them.

I was scared about the boobs too but after a year on HRT its virtually gone now naturally but I wasnt super hairy to begin with.  When the boobs get sore its painful just to touch so laser sounds evil.  My face has been the problem area though.  I see a doctor for it now, instead of the many laser clinics, who really cranks up the laser so they numb the face with cream before but you can still feel it in spots.  Mustache or any spot that isnt too fatty hurts like hell for me.

Just a side note, I didnt really see much with hair changes until around a year and I've heard other people mention that.  If you can wait you might just save some money.

For beginning - I had very little hair there, so my experience may differ. But still - I wanted to get of that :). I zapped area with Tria 4x several times and I have to say, I used 5th power setting from the beginning and barely winced at that (it was at the same time when I was using 3rd setting on my face and shedding tears even with EMLA cooling cream - now I zap my face with 5th without "painkiller" and barely wince). I also did run epilator through the area a couple of times and most of hair is practically gone now.
Of course, Tria is less powerful than "professional" laser, but I doubt that pain would be intolerable - it could rather be mildly or moderately uncomfortable sensation, not really "pain"...

Only had one session with laser so far and it was pre HRT, and omg nipples sucked I wanted to cry. Have my second session Monday and I wasn't thinking about it but now I'm a little worried because they have been way more sensitive. The laser was really effective at getting rid of hairs in the chest and abdomen though. Was pretty neat just having hairs fall out around the 1-2 week point.

I don't have chest hair growth, naturally. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for facial hair, which is THE WORST thing ever...:/

Having laser on my chest currently.
HT greatly reduced thickness and growth of my chest hair but hasn't eliminated it, I got annoyed and chest shaving every couple days to wear a top such as shown in my profile.
Getting four treatments for the chest location concurrent with the armpits(covers down to a row of laser across my sternum, $200 per session charge.

I have 18 months of robust HT. As for hair changes, the most profound has been the complete shedding of my back hair, something I though would need treatment... My legs have shed 60% and I expect another 20% will go over the next few years, the entire male secondary inner thigh pattern thankfully shed. There has been a body-wide change in the thickness and growth of hair that didn't shed to pretty much female norms. Obviously with the remaining thickness and quantity of my chest hair, I felt treatment is appropriate, after laser session 4 I'll be plenty willing to shell out a few bucks for electrolysis, of remaining hair on my chest, armpits, the annoying ingrown ones on the back of my legs, etc.

That's where the most persistent chest hairs seem to be right now and they're pretty much black, which is good for the laser at least.

I had a few dark ones right on the outside of the areolas. After HRT and some extremely careful use of the Tria (don't want to laser the areola directly because it contains more melanin), I think I have 2 maybe 3 of the black ones left. My chest hair is completely gone, I've Tria'd that about 4 or 5 times total

I had a few hairs around the outer edges of the areolas as well, but I just plucked them and they quit growing back after awhile  8)  But I've never had much hair to begin with and I'm more concerned with getting rid of my darned facial hair

Yep I'm on that tip, too. Just got back from my 11th laser session today :D

He somehow managed to get 50-100 hairs to pop out on the upper lip after the course of the session... Where oh where do they come from? I don't know, but good riddance!
