I make games as a hobby, and have done since the days of the Commodore 64. I have dabbled mostly in Interactive Fiction — the Zork-style text interface, for those who remember that game. Game engines have improved since the Infocom days and now include embedded images and complex text parsing. Often my games contain a transgender element: the protagonist begins male, and his body changes during the game to the opposite gender, usually by some fantastic or pseudo-science method. I've always found this a fun and interesting game element to play with.
Most of the available games are MTF in nature, and few are FTM. I would like to rectify this, but I am having difficulty finding someone to collaborate with who can give me a good perspective on what he would find enjoyable. The programming and writing is easy enough. What I hope to find is someone to guide the design stages. What would be fun to do in a game where your character starts female and becomes a man?
Actually, for that matter, I would be fascinated to have input on MTF game elements as well. I do not personally identify as transgender, so I can only approach design from the standpoint of what I personally find interesting. I hope to produce a game that touches on the subject with more sensitivity.
