Title: Who do I write a letter to?
Post by: Riven on February 03, 2014, 09:20:29 AM
Hello, I am an Active Duty member of the USAF and I'm looking to reach higher up and get someone in power on the side of allowing Transgender Americans to openly serve in the Military. Who do I write a letter to so I can give them a few ideas and simply ask for help on behalf of everybody who is more or less putting their life on hold for the sake of defending their country? I am not looking for a debate, I am asking who I need to write to, and how I am supposed to do it. Lastly, I need to remain anonymous for obvious reasons. Thank you.

I would think the best would be your congress people. You could start more locally but then it would only be to start gathering like minded people.

To also write letters to congressmen showing that you are not alone in how you feel. to Organize information and explain your reasons to others, i.e. the public.

I would say the commander-in-chief.

You can also try the HRC and see if maybe they are already working on something and point you in the direction.

Thank you for your service to the country

I tried HRC but I'm not honestly sure how to navigate that website. I don't see any sort of forums for me to seek what I'm looking for. I'll keep trying. I'll be honest, I don't think a letter sent anonymously would make it to the big man himself. Just a hunch anyways.

When OutServe-SLDN ousted Allyson Robinson, the folks from there who were interested in working for trans* inclusion within the military went to an organization called SPART*A.  To the best of my knowledge, they are still there.  You might try contacting that org.  Here is their Facebook page:
