Hello everyone! has anyone tried to do oral pills to be on rectal administration? example ethinyl estradiol, avodart or androcur?? i read on some sites than doing it rectally will increase the absorption of medicines.

There are forms of estrogen out there designed for rectal and even vaginal use.

I would strongly caution anyone from trying this with any medication not designed for it. Especially antiandrogens you could easily overdose on them. Please follow doctors suggestions on dosage.

so does this means that rectal administration is really effective?? then if its true we can lower our dose so that we dont spend much and also safe for our liver. :)

Just have your doctor change your oral to the patch or IM injections.

patch or IM injections are EXPENSIVE in my place, and i cant afford it. so thats why im trying alternate administer route.

Ok then just stick them under your tongue.

IE:Sublingual from the Latin for "under the tongue", refers to the pharmacological route of administration by which drugs diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue

Yes i did try that, but dutas sublingual is HORRIBLE!

Not everything along this journey is a bed of roses. But it sure beats the hell out of where we've come from, or any other option n

I know that micronized bio-identical estradiol (like Estrace) in pill format can be taken vaginally and sublingually based on studies that have verified this. Micronized bio-identical progesterone in pill format (gelatin capsule) can also be taken rectally as studies have also verified that (and probably vaginally and sublingually), namely with Utrogestan, similar to Prometrium. There are also progesterone suppositories that can be taken rectally or vaginally called Cyclogest and available in the UK.

If rectal absorption is effective, levels will be much much higher than with oral, as much as 10x higher because most, if not all, of the substance is absorbed directly into the blood.

Ethinyl estradiol and most anti-androgens have very good bioavailability so that even if they are taken orally, a large concentration of the drug still makes it to the circulation and their metabolites are also quite effective as compared to the parent molecule/drug. So, there's no point in taking them another way. It's not worth the inconvenience. I strongly advise against taking ethinyl estradiol as it increases risks of DVT and embolism and there are far, better alternatives, just AS EFFECTIVE.

Wait a Minute you don't mean Dutas like the Generic form of Avodart/Dutasteride? That stuff isn't meant to be taken Sublingually. There is a reason why it tastes so bad, you risk massively overdosing on the amount of antiandrogen you are taking if you take it that way. AFAIK none of the antiandrogens are meant to be taken sublingually and many times have time release coatings or designs that are not meant to be bypassed. You could be getting as much as 9 times the amount of medication you were prescribed!

Things like Estrofem (estradiol) are uncoated and dissolve fine under the tongue.  It doesn't taste terrible either. Novo-Nordisk also makes Vagifem, but not in doses that would be reasonable for transgender HRT (well, maybe if an FTM wanted to deliver a very small amount of Estrogen directly to the vagina to keep it more functional, but a cream could do that just as well).

Estrogens are taken sublingually quite commonly, I would be Very suspect of a doctor telling you to take an antiandrogen sublingually.

i did try avodart to be taken sublingual and it taste horrible and stings too. thats why i never do it again. right now i am taking it rectally and it seems to be highly effective. it stop my beard from growing almost instantly.
