When trying to find the right therapist I messaged many of them in the surrounding area, hoping to find one I would be comfortable with and that could also assist me on my journey to finally become the woman I know I am. One stood out above the rest when she messaged me back and said "Please let me know if you would prefer to be called by a different name." So this wasn't anything major and I am sure most therapists do this however it was a big deal to me. I hope you all have similar stories with your therapists.

Hey, that is a big step! I remember when I first reached out to my therapist. I was so scared and cautious about everything. In the end, it's worked out great and one of the best decisions I ever made. Good luck with starting! :)

For those of us just starting our transition it's a huge deal. I was giddy the whole day the first time I popped onto netflix after switching the profile name to Colleen. So yeah, anytime we see or hear our chosen name in reference to ourselves it is a big thing.

When my therapist said that she would call me Sandy and said that she was happy to meet Sandy, I broke down and cried.

Mine said the same thing to me today. I was happy but also a little apprehensive. Next time I think I'll tell her I'm ready for that. I was really nice to hear, made me smile.

I was so surpised and happy to see that my therapist called me Claudia from the beggining , it really made me feel well and i love her for that :D
Maybe it is just her being professional but anyway , it really makes a big difference for me .

I hadn't even thought about changing my name on netflix yet!!!! Although I have started a new email address, and on some of my apps and websites that I use for shopping I have changed to Alana, and with each new one I become more and more giddy haha.
I definitely teared up a lot when my therapist sent me her first reply addressing me as Alana, I don't know if it is just professional or not, either way I think it is a great thing.
And the first time my cousin called me Alana I cried tears of joy, she is my rock, I don't know how I could do this without her love and support.
