Hi, my doctor has had me on the highest dosage of estrogen and spironolactone for almost two years now. I just ordered micronized progesterone from a popular foreign pharmacy to hopefully maximize breast and hip growth. I haven't asked my doctor for her opinion on progesterone and will see her in April but have a feeling she won't prescribe if asked. If she happens to disagree, could she drop me as a patient for self-medicating on progesterone or should I keep it to myself as long as I have my blood checked regularly? For some reason, I'm scared to tell her because she might will automatically assume it's illegal!

from my research on the subject the vast majority of medical evidence is that progesterone is ineffective for HRT. That's why doctors don't prescribe it.

I would have a conversation with your doctor about it. Mine went into a lengthy diatribe with me about how he thought it was ineffective, and how all the girls on the internet who claim they have seen benefit from it are wrong, etc. But, he also said he's willing to Rx it for mood swings. So, at my next appointment I told him I'd been having mood swings. Which, strictly speaking wasn't a lie, and he wrote out the script. Now, I haven't noticed any mood stability since being on it. If anything I'm probably slightly more emotional (I've also had some epic crazy in my life, so, who knows where that's to blame). But, I sure have noticed a LOT of nipple development. It happened fast too.

But, your doc does need to know what all is in your system to correctly evaluate you. So, tell him you want it, see if he'll Rx it, and if not, try and hint, without sounding all blackmailish, that you're going to do it anyway. A lot of time doctors will just do it at that point, knowing that it's safer for you to be doing it under their care than not.

Yes, you should tell her IF you get the Progesterone. If you live in the U.S. (speaking as a LEO) Custom's might seize it and send you a letter of caution. I know two others this has happened to.

All i am going to say is. SAVE YOUR MONEY.  As stephaniec said. 

Also not every country drugs are equal, some very unsafe.

I like progesterone.  I would get a script if at all possible.

Your dr may be able to see from the bloodwork,  that ur taking it anyway. Even if they don't measure the p level directly,  as some don't,  p will affect ur t and e levels which will no doubt that be called into question shortly after. 

That is what I would guess. You may be able to get them to prescribe p in place of some of the spiro,  which is associated with negative effects on breast development into the later tanner stages.

And I could give you plenty of doctors that DO prescribe it for HRT and swear by it

I've been on P for about a month and a half.  Waiting on blood test in April for my judgement on P, but for people to look on the internet and see negative reviews on a drug and take it as truth can curb people from meds that might help their situation

As for Christina's question:

Why not try to get your P prescription through your doctor instead of some online pharmacy that could be selling you expired or incorrect dosage medicine?  But if you absolutely must order it online... tell your doctor for sure that you're taking it and maybe that will force their hand in prescribing it to you, because I'm sure they know the risks of online, unregulated pharmaceuticals
