Has anyone else experienced cognitive or memory problems while taking testosterone? I had a severe reaction that me and my doctors have yet to figure out. I want to know if the following sounds familiar to anyone:
After going on T (10 years ago), as prescribed by my endocrinologist, I experienced a severe cognitive reaction. Specifically, after starting testosterone ethanate, I would frequently zone out or blank out. And I had working memory issues that got worse and worse until I stopped taking T. These memory issues were so bad that my grades suffered and it became difficult for me to hold a conversation. When conversing, by the time the other person finished telling me something, I would forget what we were talking about. This problem started when I started taking testosterone and gradually got better once I stopped taking it. Neuropsychological testing confirmed a significant decline in these abilities.
My doctors are puzzled and have never seen this sort of an adverse reaction before. As a premed, I think this problem make some sense because the brain is impacted by various hormonal levels (other than T) with positive and negative feedback loops that overlap. Given the rarity of this issue, I would definitely like to be in touch with anyone else who's had this problem. It will be easier to solve if we (and/or our doctors) work together.

I don't think we are allowed to give specific medical advice, but It could be due to electrolyte retention because T causes your body to retain them.
