Hello all,
This is my first post here. I'm a t-girl who's been living abroad (teaching in China). I have many questions because I'm from a small town in the southern U.S., but once I move back to the States I'd like to settle somewhere SAFE. I will probably ask in a poll perhaps, but I'd like to settle down where men are tolerant of t-girls. I'd like to minimize the chances of meeting someone who'd react violently to any revelations that I'm not a biological female.
Perhaps I should mention, I'm attracted to men of color so this may or may not have a bearing on your answer - I'm not sure if it would. I'm not sure how liberal African American men have become, but when I left the States several years ago the only African American men that would date me just wanted a casual encounter (on the Down-low). I read about the tragic slaying of Islan Nettles in NYC while in China. I've always assumed I'd settle somewhere like NYC, but after reading this I think I'd rather ask other t-girls' opinions of which communities are best (welcoming, safer, more tolerant, etc.) I've been gone several years and plan to move back to the States later in 2014... after summer most likely.

Hi Heather, Welcome to Susan's.
I think there is a poll about the friendliest places to live, not sure if that means the safest.
I'm glad you found us and hope to see more of your posts.

A big warm welcome to the family Heather! I am so glad you found us and joined as you now have a wonderful support system behind you now. Feel free to rant, vent, share good news (we like that a LOT), learn or just have some distracting fun and meet the rest of the family. I hope you have a safe move back to the States and find a good place to settle. I am in Oklahoma and have not had one bad experience so far in my daily life at all. Attitudes are changing very rapidly here and becoming more accepting and tolerant. Here is a BIG HUG :icon_hug: to welcome you and make you feel right at home! :)
