Title: Low BP from Spiro
Post by: Hayley on March 25, 2014, 06:37:29 AM
So since I've started taking spiro 3 months ago my BP has dropped from being perfect to low. Now I recently had my dosage increased by my endo durning the same visit when I found out I was low. 90/60 I believe. Now I feel fine and all. No issues other than now that I have low bp I get really light headed after standing. Every time. Should I be concerned and bring it up to my doctor? She didn't seem concerned that it was that much of an issue.

You'll probably be more thirsty than usual and crave salt more so be sure to drink plenty of natural/spring water and as much salt as you want. Moderate your intake of diuretics. Avoid high potassium stuff like fruit juices, sodas, mineral water, energy/sports drinks, salt substitutes, bananas, potatoes, etc. This will help with the dizziness, cramping, dehydration that might occur with Spiro. If, despite taking these precautions, problems persist and you really don't feel good, then contact your doctor immediately. It's best to start low with Spiro and gradually increase, over several weeks to give your body time to adjust.

Ah well I didn't mean to post this yet as I wasn't finished typing it up. Oh well Sadly using my phone I didn't notice that I did. Anyway I already drank a lot of fluids. 2+ liters a day minimum. Before any spiro. Never had issues with dehydration or cramping even after taking it. It's only the getting light headed after standing that is of concern to me. I mean it's just bothersome when it happens. Doesn't bother me that much.

I switched out blood pressure meds after starting ht. I was having low BP effects. That was capped off by passing out in the Dr's office after having blood drawn for a lab. When I came-to my primary doc standing over my bed was like "No kidding, low BP issues, let's just switch things up some more..."
