Title: Hairline -- when and how?
Post by: Gandalf on March 27, 2014, 09:45:27 AM
I'm confused on hairline lowering/transplant. Scalp advancement does not give you a female hairline, and for me it's probably not enough.

Should I do a full hairline transplant/redesign before undertaking FFS surgery? Or is it possible to place hairs in the (healed) scarring tissue from the incision around your forehead?

No. Having hairtransplantation before scalpadvancement isn't a good idea. The transplants will fall out permanently after scalpadvancement.

A hairtransplant +/- a year post scalpadvancement will work better, a year and a half would be better.

That is not true. I had hair transplants half an year ago to get a female shaped hairline and a few weeks ago a hairline advancement of 2,5cm. I had no hair loss and my FFS doc said that is normal.

I will see how visible the scar is by end of the year and how my hairline looks and decide if I want to have hair transplants on the scar.

I've just had my crown done a few weeks back. I don't have a huge amount of loss at the front, and my hope is that the Fin/Min I'm on and some likely HRT will help recover some of this. I'll then consider hairline in future either with additional transplants or as part of an FFS procedure.

Hi Lara

Who did your hairline advancement? How is the scarring ?

I had hairline advancement during FFS with facial team. The scar is hard to see. Only if I tell someone about FFS he will see the scar. Usually even a medical doctor sees me as CIS woman.

I would do it again ( first hair transplants than ffs) and I would do it again with facial team. I am very happy. My hair is still becoming more dense and I enjoy it to enter a restaurant or cafe.

Yes I did this and I am very happy. Hair needs a lot of time to grow. So start with transplants.

If you plans to undergo FFS, I would recommend you to undergo the FFS before you undergo hair transplantation.
It would be easier for the surgeons to get a hairline that suit your face, when the face is done. Just my opinion.
