Title: Anyone from Montana or North Dakota?
Post by: DriftingCrow on April 15, 2014, 08:09:57 PM
I've been looking at jobs I am (hopefully) qualified for, and some may require me to move to Montana (Great Falls area) or North Dakota (near Fort Yates) if I get hired. I've never been to either state and don't know anyone there. I am completely ignorant to these two states and have mainly been reading Wikipedia.

I am used to the Boston-area life and things it has to offer here: lots of diversity, tons of restaurants, the desi community, theater, etc.

So, does anyone have more insight of what there is to do in these areas? I've looked on-line, and all I can really find is out-door stuff and museums. There's absolutely no Gurdwaras anywhere nearby, though I can live with that for the time being. Is there much diversity in these areas (Great Falls has an air force base, so I am guessing there must be some diversity)? Fun restaurants? Entertainment besides outdoor stuff? Any crazy weather stuff that I should know about?

I hear people are wicked nice out there, but is there much acceptance of gender non-conforming people there?

Thanks for any insight, tips, or advice.

Ummm not to sure about Montana area.  But as for North Dakota... it's a wonderful state don't get me wrong... but if your from Boston.... it won't be hell ,.... but you should be able to see it from there.... lol.  Ok seriously tho.... minus 40 is normal in the winter. That in itself is enuff to kill me! It's no Boston and lots of tractors and oil field boys.... mmmm yummm. But you may have to drive out of state to find a Starbucks.
