Hello!
I've been having trouble finding the right therapist in columbus, ohio. I've heard both good and bad about Meral Crane. I was wondering if anyone would have any idea how she would receive a trans masculine genderqueer who doesn't necessarily fit into strict gender roles?
Also maybe suggestions on a therapist who might be good?
Thank you!

The only ones I found online at WPATH were:
Kathleen Glaus, Dayton
Thomas Meiring, Toledo
Meral Crane
If you are near the University try the Psychology Department. I found mine at Oklahoma State University and you do not have to be a student. Worth a shot. :)

I just found this one. http://affirmationstherapy.com - down in the brewery district, West of German village.
I literally just found it today and emailed them to schedule an appointment. They therapist I asked for was booked until June (Dr. Chad) so I asked a few pointed questions about other the other therapists. It was pretty late in the day so the secretary didn't get back to me yet. In any case, I'll keep you posted on what I find. Let me know if you find any good ones, okay?
Thanks!
Kova

I would not want to malign Meral Crane, but I did not have a good experience with her. It was in the late 90's, and she might approach clients in a different way now. And I will be happy to private message you about the details of it. I would be inclined to recommend my current therapist, but she might not be taking new patients as she's cut back to two days a week. She's not on the list, but she has training and is a real therapist. I was a different person by the time I got to my current therapist, but I wonder about whether I would have transitioned over a decade earlier had my first encounter with a gender therapist not been with Meral Crane.

Yes Stonewall! Plus they work with your income level. People there is super nice too, some friends and I did a food booth for Pride a couple of years back (stonewall handles Pride )
Jojo, are you active there? I keep wanting to go to the monthly things but I'm way too intimidated. I'm actually super self conscious when I'm in a small group and especially if don't know someone. I've done the whole - go there but don't go in and then leave. I'm such a whimp. :)

I forgot to mention Ellen Seigel. She is who referred me to Emily at Stonewall since I've got medicaid instead of "real" insurance. She's super awesome and I wish she was my therapist.
It seems you're a step ahead of me :P I'm not active at all in the trans community, though I've considered that I should. I think there's a big symposium May 30- June 1. Ellen told me about this, she said it's the most open and accepting place and time ever. I might end up going, not sure just yet. PM me Kova :P

I completely forgot to check back here! Thank you all so much for your replies. My partner and I recently found affirmations in columbus through the lavender listings I know three of their therapists have experience with trans. Two of them are booked for a while but the newest one, he doesn't have a bio on the site yet, I think his name is Andrew. he has expirince and has more open availability. My partner is seeing him on Tuesday, I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Just an update my partner had an appointment with dr. Blaire (affirmations) and had a really good expirince! I think affirmations may be a really good place here in columbus!
