First-of-its-kind class explores gender ID and law

"I think this is the first course in the country to focus specifically on gender identity and the law," said Nussbaum of her special topics course, Gender Identity and the Law, offered in the Department of Women's Studies and Feminist Research (WSFR), for the first time this winter term.

That this course exists is another step forward for trans* people, it represents recognition at an academic level that did not exist before. We are transitioning from the fringes, from being marginalized and dismissed to being real people walking through life without the fear and loathing that has overshadowed us (see http://www.kfdm.com/shared/news/top-stories/stories/kfdm_vid_9571.shtml for comparison)
