Title: Ted Talks
Post by: StormOfThorns on April 24, 2014, 02:34:07 PM
Am not sure if it has or has not been posted here, but I'll take that chance. I watched this whole thing, and it really helps strengthen my resolve in what I feel. Time for society to realize that what they are taught is not entirely right, but built on old beliefs. It's never too late, never too early. Your life begins when you want it to. Wanted to share this either way. I know it's difficult... and not just aimed at FTM but really, all those that kinda struggle with being... outside of the labels.

Great video, thanks for sharing. Although I wish he talked a little more about the gender spectrum, I feel like a lot of people don't understand that.

2:41-4:07 is exactly how I feel about being trans.  He explains it so well.

Can't say I like the title. I was born a boy. If I'd been born a girl, I'd still be living as one.

Good point - very true. Great video though.

I get the aversion to the title from the offset but it's the point of the speech. He talks about how, when you're born, the doc declares what gender you are based purely on what's between your legs and how that follows you. So basically the idea is that some boys are born [declared] a girl. This is why, in terms of the body, I prefer the term female and male, and in terms of gender identity you can identify as girl or boy based on your brain; not genitalia/body parts/hormone composition.  We can be born female, but that doesn't mean we're girls.
