Title: Hi!

Wanted to stop by and officially introduce myself. I've been lurking around and hanging in the chat room up till now. I just recently discovered that I am transgender. I had a typical childhood of dressing which I suppressed in my teen years. In my adult years I was in to latex and leather fetish dressing but over the years that became more and more feminized. It was at some point that I realized I was just fooling myself in to thinking that was some how more accepted (at least from the kink point of view) and that what I really wanted to wear was a dress. So I bought a dress, tried it on, and that was all she wrote. A real inner peace and calm came over me that I had never felt before and I knew what it was that I could never accept. That was almost a year ago and I am currently in therapy and I am trying to decide what course this will take. How I will integrate my feminine self with my life, my family and my friends.
Which I why I am here to make friends and look for advice. I am looking forward to participating in the forum.

Hi Abby and welcome to Susan's. I thought about the leather scene while I was dealing with my gender questioning but decided that it didn't fit me. There's plenty of information and great people here.
:)

Quote from: abbyFlame on April 26, 2014, 04:44:55 PMThat is the hardest step for all of us, but one we had to take. You have to individualize it and present it in a way they will understand. You know your family and friends better than us, so we can give you tips, but ultimately it is up to you. I considered notifying (I hate the term coming out) people as the second biggest step in transition right after admitting to myself I was trans and could not fight it anymore. I will tell you that Dysphoria only gets much worse as time goes by. I used so much energy being a "male" that is sapped me to the core. Now I feel relaxed, rested and live every day to the fullest. Transition saved my life and made me feel 20 years younger. :)
How I will integrate my feminine self with my life, my family and my friends.
Do yourself a BIG favor and get a Therapist with gender experience. They are invaluable!

Jessica - I hear you on the energy needed to present as a man. It truly is exhausting.
I have a gender therapist and I'd say it going fairly well. I do fill the need to rush ahead a lot (I am over 40) but my therapist does a good job of making me slow down. So people in my life already know but other then my wife I've never presented to any of them yet and I am terrified.
Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome..
