I'm 3 days away from 1 year since SRS and still have significant swelling. Any idea if this is normal or when I should expect it to go away?

I've also gained in the past month or so hypersensitivity in my clitoris, to the point that I'd consider the sensation of it being touched to be mildly painful. I have heard of hypersensitivity as a side-effect, but only immediately after surgery, not a year after the fact. What worries me is this is exactly how it felt to have the glans of my penis touched.

Swelling is still in a few areas for me. 13 months. But all in all its puff free.

Healing makes things wire back together.

Me I can touch my clit but OMFG! when my husband does it can send me through the roof. That has been getting more sencitive over the months.

One question I have is the hood covering it? If not that could be some of the issue.

I'm not sure about the hood covering it (it should be but I haven't looked) but I'm sufficiently swollen that it's not touched by anything other than surrounding tissue.

For me it's hurt like getting a very hard pinch, etc.

2 years post-op and I'm only now seeing the end of swelling; I had a LOT of swelling. Other women have reported that it can take up to 2 years, too.

Since you had numbness before, the hypersensitivity could be nerves coming back online and overreacting temporarily. Lots of cis women say the clit is too sensitive to touch directly, though... (I never was with a woman where that wasn't true.)

Ugh! This is the sort of stuff I should have been told by my therapist (who has 20 years of experience with transition) before surgery! A lot of why I'm struggling is that she insisted that she has never had or even heard of a client having such effects last longer than 2-3 months max... Yet more of the crap that wasn't about informing me and was, instead, about persuading me to have SRS when I didn't want it.

I had a period of a few weeks when it was pleasant to touch.

I'm actually shocked that you never ran across any of the relevant stories on this site; bad luck, I guess. Of course, Brassard said swelling would last a year, so I wondered myself until I did enough research to find similar stories to mine.

It might get back there, but if not, you're well within cis variation. You just have to learn indirect touches. (Which I had to do for my wife; touching directly meant a yelp in pain and no more sex fun for a while.)

At 11 months my clitoris became super sensitive for several months at 15 months now it is pardon the phrase "a hot button item" but I have learned how to avoid it directly for most purposes, but it does have moments when I can be sitting perfectly still, and it will get a tingle that will make me almost yelp.  My swelling issue shows up in some days when I still spray when I pee.  Not often, but infrequent irritations do happen.

I didn't look because I had such definite statements from my therapist and HRT doctors.

Swelling took a couple of years to subside for me as well. I think that one thing people fail to explain is the length of time it takes to heal and for your body to find it's new form and balance. In most cases it takes a couple of years, or more.

For my part, I had medical and mental health professionals intent upon persuading me to have SRS, so such matters were not communicated. I was basically told that real recovery only takes a few months and experiencing any numbness beyond 3-6 would be exceptional (full numbness went until about 8-9 months for me.) I was given a "sales pitch" for SRS from people who were in positions to be trusted advisors and used that to hide that they were selling me a bill of goods.

I was finally able to have an orgasm a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it has been a major disappointment for the same reasons.

I think a lot of therapists are out of touch with healing timesshould touch tjink surgeons maybe as well mine surgeon said 6/8 weeks of work im at the 8 week point now still not able to run or sit properly.

as to be convinced to have surgery etc that shouldnt happen it should be an option if you want it and then they agree to do the referrals etc.
