Title: Migraines on HRT!

Hey everyone I am Elizabeth and I am just wondering if you shared this experience when yous tarted HRT?
I just wanted to ask if it is normal to gain more migraines after starting HRT! I always used to get one every few months, but I have had 2 since starting HRT 7 days ago. Does it get any better? I really hate migraines! :(
I'm just trying to focus on the fact that this presumably means the hormones are real!
Thanks

I can't say I've gotten migraines, but I think Spiro gives me frontal headaches from time to time. As far as I know, it hasn't really subsided for me (3 months in), its not every day but most days. Idk if it makes a difference but I also take a baby aspirin with my spiro and first estradiol dose. Could be why I don't always get the headaches.
I suggest buying some Excedrin Migraine Relief. Works for me.

Definitely talk to your doctor or endo, Elizabeth. Don't wait! Migraines are nothing to fool with.

I had migraines from age 5 to about 16, again 25 to about 33, then then last 5 years or so (they run in all the females in mom's side of my family) and I have never, ever, figured found my triggers. I just hope they do not get any worse. Sumtriptan takes it away now, even low dose, but if they get worse, I will lose my job. I will likely get my first doses of Spiro and E today (Endo appt this afternoon), so fingers are crossed.

Thought I would resurrect this as I had a real humdinger awful migraine yesterday. I've had them for more than 20 years and they do seem worse on HRT (which is one reason I'd rather have an orchie or SRS). My triggers seem to be dehydration and over work but I do suspect estradiol can make it worse. This is actually a known symptom (http://www.pbm.va.gov/PBM/clinicalguidance/criteriaforuse/Transgender_Cross_Sex_Hormone_Therapy_in_MtF_Male_to_Female_CFU.pdf
)
Does anyone else here get them?

You could try to lessen stress if that might be one reason...
like conscious relaxation during the day... having some breaks and enjoying a cup of tea... meditation in the evening... avoiding disturbing pics on tv...
Concerning hrt, if estro is applicated oral/sublingual, it might be possible to spread the daily dose through a few small doses instead of one or two big ones... this way spikes and lows might be avoided...
hugs

Have you tried increasing your water intake?
I aim for three liters a day and have a completely clear head at all times.
Maybe this could help?

I get migraines and I was very worried about this before starting HRT. It was one of the reasons I opted for patches, because of the even dosing. I have been on HRT a little over a year and a half and so far there has been no migraine changes for me.
