Title: Good trans books

I was looking for some reading material to help with self discovery/acceptance and I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions. Evidence based research type book suggestions would be especially appreciated. I'm one of those weirdos that can't finish most non-fiction or personal testimony type books, but can't put scientific, theory or fact based books down.

Well, I would recommend "Whipping Girl" by Julia Serrano, just because her feelings were so close to mine. It's not the sort of book you describe. It's angry and skewers our culture's anti-trans sentiment and the ways in which the cis world insists upon defining us. But there are a great many many things in that book that have helped with my self-acceptance.
"The Transgender Guidebook" is a very straightforward inventory of what people who are transitioning should be aware of.

Thanks Suzi! I will definitely check those out! I am interested in any suggestions, not just the scientifically based. Those are just the kind of books I typically prefer. Also, testimonials are getting easier to find these days, but I have yet to find a book that is a survey all of the research that is out there. I actually just found a class at a local university that I may check out. How about that, we have classes now :)
