Title: I'm Out!
Post by: JulieBlair on June 11, 2014, 12:53:31 PM
Well it is done,

I met with my staff this morning, and as we speak there is an all hands meeting for the Alaska Science Center occurring.  Lawyers, senior EEOC staff, the whole dog and pony show is in process.  Turns out I am the poster child for NOAA and DOC.  So anybody here who works for those agencies, you better hope they get it right, this will be policy. ;)  This being Seattle, and this being a science center, I don't think that there will be much of a fuss.  I sure am excited though.  Got to run, they want me off campus when this meeting gets done.

The women of Susan's are responsible for this happening in my life.  Without you I would be lost, and I will forever be grateful for the love and support I have been shown.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Love You All,
Julie

Congratulations, Julie!  I'll never forget the days when I was first out.  It's the most exhilirating experience you'll ever have.  I hope your experience turns out to be as fabulous as mine was.

Well yes and no.  It takes a village to make a T-girl, and you guys are my village.  Here is where I found the information that I needed to start.  Here is where I found the inspiration when I just didn't know what to do.  Here is where I found the support that kept me going when all I wanted to do was die.

So yes, we each must walk our road, but because of you it need not be a solitary journey.  There are teachers here who have profoundly changed my perception of reality.  Both Men and Women who have taught me what selflessness is all about.  I am a better person/woman/friend/human because of susans.org and because of the amazing people who come here.

I say I love you guys a lot, and it is not said carelessly, but the truth is more than that.  It is agape, admiration, caring, and hope.  This afternoon I will drive 500 miles to celebrate the graduation from college a brave woman who transitioned at school.  My traveling companions will be both trans men, and trans women.  We will meet others both cis and trans for this celebration.  What a gift!  It is the gift of a full and joyful life.  A big part of this for me began here.  I'll talk to you as the internet gods allow.

Julie

Well said.   However the admiration and love is mutual.   Your contribution and the love and appreciation which we feel for you is far more than you imagine.

Enjoy your celebrations.

Safe travels

Aisla

Thank you for your wise leadership. You are breaking new ground with the Feds, and this can only lead to greater acceptance by other agencies and beyond. It must be really exciting to be a part of this movement. - Julia
