Title: How to get funds for surgery?

So I'm planning to get surgery in the next year or so. I was wondering how one goes about getting the money for it? Like, do you have to save up? Can you get a loan from a bank, etc...
I'd like some ideas on how to gain a lump sum of cash so I can get whatever surgery I'd like and be able to possibly pay it off monthly?

Some have saved up, some have put it on multiple credit cards, some have gotten loans, borrowed from supportive family. There have been internet and IRL fundraisers.....just about anything.
There is also a thing called "Care Credit", but my understanding is the interest rate can be CRAZY.
It seems that many investigate and choose a surgeon first, so they have an idea of the needed amount. (Surgery/travel/post-op care). Perhaps your surgeon can accept at least partial payment from your insurance (depending on where you live etc). Perhaps they want it all up front. Perhaps they will or perhaps they won't accept Care Credit. Perhaps they will or won't split the amount between five relatives and three credit cards.

Carecredit sounds like like a good idea. it looks like a lot of money to pay off but if whatever doctor accepts it I guess its the way to go. I've heard of lendingclub, as well. so I'm probably going to have to look into all my options and see what one works best and works with the surgeon as well.

Go to college. The University of Washington covers all aspects of transitioning including all major surgeries such as breast augmentation for MtF people, hormones and therapy. You are eligible for these benefits after 3 months. This insurance plan is accepted by almost every SRS surgeon in the United States.

There are also insurance companies that will cover GD.
Medicare now covers and soon medicaid county wide will also have to fallow suit.
So relax some and start looking into getting it done for free.
It truly is a good time.

Just because they no longer exclude it and cover the procedure does not mean surgeons will accept the insurance for that procedure. Try finding a surgeon that will accept medicaid insurance for SRS. I know a girl that wrote to every SRS surgeon in the United States back in 2010 about accepting MediCal (California's Medicaid) and none of them would accept it. Just saying...

401K for me. I'll have to cash it out when ever my current job ends. Wish I could now but they won't let me.

The old fashioned way. Get multiple jobs, work your ass off, save up money, keep good credit to take out a loan.
