so i have super dark circles under my eyes and ive tried endless hours of make up  but it always ends up looking horrendously ashy and still noticably dark. ive even had a technician at a department store try her 'amazing new super concealer' product she was selling and that didnt work either.

i was wondering how HRT would go with getting rid or lessening the dark circles. i was thinking that hrt would flesh out the face more making the skin no be AS thin under the eyes.

has anyone had any experience with dark circles prior to HRT and how did it turn out?

Well for me I think mine became more pronounced than they already were after many months of estrogen.

I am not sure if it was from HRT or just regular aging, but I ended up doing a transconjuctival lower eyelid blepharoplasty as part of FFS which solved the problem.

Eye bags are a result of the fat deposits that naturally grow in your eye socket (3 underneath each eye). Sometimes the fat can grow a bit higher up, which creates the illusion of a bag or dark circle. Also as we age, the fat slowly dissipates- which contributes to a hollowed out look.

Lower eye bleph repositions the fat pockets. The usual route is from the inside of the lower eyelid and heals without any sutures or scars. There are of course possible complications, but I think it's usually a pretty low risk procedure especially for a good PS. I had zero complications btw. I think it prolly made me look about 5 years younger and about 5hrs better rested.

I know there are remedies and such that you can try, but usually it is a genetically inherited trait and at some point it is unavoidable without surgical intervention. Sometimes, in certain cultures, lower eye bags are even considered attractive. Just food for thought :)

my problem isnt so much bag as it seem my under eyes have little to no fat deposits. its more the dark circles, dark to the point where i would probably be mistaken for a panda if i visited the local zoo  :P
i think my issue is very much a hereditary thing, so i was just curious to see how HRT would affect it (if my doc ever stops stuffing me around >.<  >:( )

I think I know what you mean now, it's not a shadow from a "bag" but just kind of looks hollow? Well you could always talk to a PS about temporary dermal fillers to see if you like it... Belotero seems to be the filler of choice for under-eye area from mine, but I am sure it runs the gamut between that and Juvaderm etc. Belotero is new.. I think... Don't quote me on that!

Probably your best bet for a long lasting solution would be fat transfer, but again this is a convo you should have with someone qualified to give you such advice- an experienced plastic surgeon!

And then there are the "collagen building" creams and remedies, but if you ask me I would say don't waste your money! I do believe they can help the texture of the skin, but I wouldn't expect any topical "miracle" ointments to quite cut it if it's pronounced.

Been on hormones since 2004, still have dark circles but under eye concealer works like charm for me. :)

When I start HRT, I had the same issue. (Around the 5th month of HRT, it went away.) I noticed that when I needed more sleep when I start HRT. Consistently getting more sleep seems to help and time.

if its caused by "hollowness" under the eyes like its sunk in you can get fillers injected to make it go away
