Title: I don't sit down to pee

I don't know if most transexuals sit down to pee when pre op, but I don't do it. I've tried doing it but it doesn't seem to work very well, it's like when I'm sitting it stops some of the pee from coming out and when I stand up, then it comes out so it's pointless. Does this happen to other pre op transexuals too? And if so does it still happen when you are post op?

Nope. When I went full time that meant everything, including peeing sitting down. Even when at a public restroom with a nasty toilet, then I just squat and pee. I think I'm feel weird if I did it standing up now, probably'd get upset at myself for doing such a thing. But go however you are comfortable. Of coarse if you ever become post-op don't see that's going to work, you'll piss over over yourself. :-\

Well you might as well get used to it, no offense, It gets worse Post op. Women deal with that every time they pee. You'll be extra fustrated by the fact it will happen more times a day till you learn how to hold your pee. Cause the muscles that help you hold it in weaken consideraly after surgury and you gotta build them back up. I dont like peeing when I sit down cause im a mild germaphobe, But I do it anyways to 'fit in' and to keep myself from getting clocked, and to help keep GG's in public restrooms from spazing out. When I do things I keep the whole trans community in mind, cause what I do, effects the communities image.

Well post op it will tend to make a mess unless you squat, and pre op who cares! Do what is comfortable.

I sit.....mainly because I have shrunken so dramatically down there that if I didn't sit I would soak the front of my pants.
That and it just feels more natural to sit now.

Haven't done it standing except for in the shower in well over a year. I hate that little reminder. In other news, I haven't missed the target in over a year, and have spent zero time cleaning dribbles off the seat or floor nor debating with my wife whether the seat gets left up or down.

I actually started sitting before I went full time, and that was the thing that made my now ex-wife realize that I was gong to transition. I hadn't made that decision yet, but she was keenly aware that I was heading down that path before I was.

I feel like to each their own. Most of the time I sit, but there are many times that I just stand. I figure that I have the equipment and while I don't like it most of the time I will at least admit that there are many a time when it does still come in handy. I figure that if all goes right I won't have it for ever, so I might as well enjoy its few good points when they come up even if they are sporadic at best. Be honest we all second guess that cold toilet seat in the car stops. I know with how much I travel they can be unavoidable at times and we all know that sometimes they are just down right frigid. lol

When I'm in public I sit because I don't want any women to see my heels pointing the wrong way under the stall door. The sound is a dead giveaway too when you stand.

Yes this please!!
I also have peed standing up in shower....but not touching anything!! More like a woman would in the shower....and before you say ewww many woman also do!!
I can't imagine ever standing up again. Not even in the worst instances!! In fact I had to drive a mile down the street from where I was temporarily working to use the gas station. NFW am I ever going on a tree again!! or squatting outside if not need be.
Recently I was in a very bad place in my life.....I was very depressed and as I proceeded to use the bathroom I told myself f*** it I am standing....I don't care anymore. Well I couldn't bare to even do it then. I think it would of done me more harm if I had.

You make it sound like you've never peed sitting down before. If you have to do #1 and #2 at the same time its normal to do both sitting down. As for just peeing, I sit if I'm in girl mode, stand if I'm in public guy mode, and about 50/50 at my house in guy mode. The only reason I don't go full time girl at home is that my dog requires like 100 walks per day.

Back when I was still using the men's bathroom, I didn't really care. I preferred to sit down because it's cleaner (you actually get to wipe that last drop off instead of the incomplete "shake" method, and there's none of that gross splatter,) but I did do it on occasion if I was in a hurry or if the stalls were all pee-splattered. (Which happened a lot... guys can be real slobs in the bathroom.)
I would NEVER stand up in a women's room, though, and I hope that's not where you're doing it. Being allowed into that bathroom at all if you're pre-op and don't have a doctor's note or anything is a privilege. So if you're going to use it, you should probably play by the rules, otherwise you're just asking for problems.

You just really have to get used to it, there's no other way around it. It's actually quite easy, just go for it! I start sitting to pee when I was 14, and even when I'm on men's bathrooms I pee sitting, but usually try to hold back the sound so they don't realize what I am doing...
You have to be very careful. If you stand to pee in women's bathrooms, unless the cubicle is fully closed, you may raise a hug red flag and get yourself into trouble with the other women.

As Suzi noted this subject has inspired a long thread before. I am pragmatic and utilitarian with my elimination business but agree that using the women's restroom for me means sitting and fitting in. That public place is not the best for red flags perhaps? Men have a much longer urethra such that dribbles, shakes and position can effect the ability to fully empty one's bladders. On HRT the very welcome shrinkage means being careful about not wetting oneself when the need to pee happens in the great outdoors where I prefer to spend much of my life.
Sitting does not make anyone more a woman, IMO, and STP (stand to Pee) devices have long been utilized by ciswomen and transmen when outdoors or as they wish.

Also, if you're having bladder-emptying problems, try sitting in more of a "squat" position... hunch over a bit, and lift your knees up and to the sides a bit. Technically human bodies were evolutionarily designed to use the bathroom while squatting, so it might help a bit to mimic this posture.

Before I started sitting I frequently had difficulty fully emptying my bladder and often ended up with a wet spot on my trowsers after tucking it back in. When I decided to try sitting I had to make a conscious effort to go to the stall instead of the urinal.
That was back in 1997 when I first decided to try sitting. Since then I have sat or squatted full-time, even squatting when outside or using a messy toilets. I have found it to be more pleasant and convenient in spite of the limited number of stalls in most men's rooms and the additional time required. I can take as much time as needed, without giving the impression that I am playing with that thing and never having to worry about wet spots on my trousers after tucking it back in. I am actually paranoid of standing and sitting has become natural for me.
My wife knows that I sit full time at home and has seen me sit when when we have used single stall unisex facilities together. She has never commented about it, either positively or negatively. I would like to know her thoughts.
I can't recall exactly when I first thought it would be nice to have girl parts but it was definately before I was 10 years old. Now that my wife is post menopausal and gave up sex over 6 years ago because it was painful and that I don't need it to pee, I would be better off without that thing. No more unsightly bulges in my pants or unwanted erections.

I sit cause standing is dysphoric for me and, ahem, I don't miss the extra mess around the toilet I used to be really fantastic super good at making.
Though I have been known to take advantage of what I've currently got when at port-a-potties. Still, it's not worth keeping around for that one advantage...

I dont really care and do which ever way I fancy. If overall environment is clean and relaxed, I go for sitting down, but if it is one of those "hurry up, damned spiro, I need to do it NOW" - then standing seems to be fastest option, lol.

This is a bit embarrasing, but I think my problem of getting all the pee out is a bit worse than the avarage male when sitting down.
I have some or other problem with my urethra that started when I was in grade 8. The urethra track is uneven or something, so some of the pee gets blocked off.
I had to go to the hospital for them to fix it, and they tried sticking a special stick thingy down there (to open it up completely and make it bigger so pee can come out easily) but my urethra was too small for the normal one for people my age and they had to use one for babies, and even that one struggled a lot to go in.
After a few months I told my mom I still have the same problem ( it's like when you go to pee, you wipe the last drop, and then when you pull your pants up and go out a lot of trapped pee would then go out)
So I went to the hospital again, and they did a different procedure this time. This time they pumped air into my urethra to make it expand, it hurt sooo much and it felt like I had to pee the whole time for a day.
But still it didn't work. The doctor asked me if I would like special stick stuff to stick in my urethra every day to make it bigger but I said no because it would hurt too much.
So the doctor said from now on I'll just have to "milk" the remaining pee out of my urethra which is embarrasing for me but it works.
So when I sit to pee , that remaining pee is very difficult to get out and I still have to "milk" it out which is quite awkward when sitting. But I think I'm going to try it from now on anyway.

I have to stand. unless I'm wearing a dress than I can move my legs farther apart , but its still a pain in the $$$$

I have to do that too, squeezing the remaining bit out. Otherwise I'm going to have a lot of dribble. I can't remember when that started with me, could've been long ago, or maybe when I damaged that thing over a decade ago breaking it when it was 'hard' so when it does get that way its always at an extreme left hook somewhat like an 'L' (sometimes hurts when it does too much) so maybe that has something to do with my peeing issue. I dunno. Even so I always have toilet paper folded up in my panties just in case (kinda like wearing a pad but cheaper and more convenient since I pee a lot throughout the day), so I never have any pee stains despite my drippy dingy.
You know, years ago there's no way in hell I'd been comfortable talking about stuff like this with anyone, and now look at me, telling the whole damn world, screwed up. Seriously, apart of medical issues being mentioned ( and no disrespect meant with that regard, because we need to do what is best for our health) - apart of that a lot of people tend to make a lot of fuss out of nothing or as doing X-kind-of-stuff would make one being more "trans" than others. Just get over that please - life is kinda complicated by itself and there is no need to make that even more complicated just "because we can".

Same here, have to have my legs a little bit apart, but no big deal, not like anyone else is watching how I pee. And those that do stand but maybe feeling self-conscience about it, that maybe you're doing something wrong, that by standing and peeing instead of sitting, don't let any of that bother you. Rules in life are not set, they were made by people and can be broken any time, and we as individuals if aren't hurting anyone else should be able to do anything however we want, this includes how we are positioned when peeing. Do it the way you feel comfortable. Don't feel you have to suddenly change just because others are doing it a certain way. I chose to sit, that is my way, doesn't have to be your's. But do take care out there in public restrooms if in the female one, those feet facing the wrong way won't bode well for any that happen to see under and hear pee pouring into the toilet, "Eek, there's a man in our bathroom!" ;)

I'm sorry you have that problem with your urethra, Melanie. It sounds like the trouble you have peeing sitting down is definitely caused by it. I don't know if you are ultimately considering SRS but that should solve the problem for you as some of the urethra will be removed in the process (hopefully the trouble making section!). In the meantime, just be careful in the women's restroom...and always leave the seat down afterwards! :)

Actually "leave the seat down" or "The seat is up, there must have been a man here." have always caused dysphoria for me. I just didn't know what it was called. I ALWAYS put the lid (which includes the seat) down.

In the meantime, just be careful in the women's restroom...and always leave the seat down afterwards! :)

Well for me, I always find it easier to sit. And while it does make me feel more "feminine" the more practical bit is that the clothes I wear make it easier to just drop them and sit. It's warm here in the Northeast so it's mostly short shorts and culottes for me these days. Those zippers on women's clothes tend to be very short and don't, shall we say, align up correctly with the male bits. If I'm all all tucked, it's just so much less hassle to just drop and sit. And if I'm wearing a skirt, you can't beat dropping your panties and sitting. Now that's convenience :)

I am aiming for SRS Grace :) I really hope that it won't be like this after SRS but if it is I guess I could live with it

Friends, a similar topic last week turned nasty due to the issue of sitting or standing.
Truly, does it even matter to anyone except the person urinating? Do it however you feel comfortable doing it. Urinating isn't a public statement of anything; it's a private biological necessity.

For many years I sat down to pee, but just the last couple of years something happened that I now have to stand to fully empty the bladder. And even then have to wait for another couple of minutes and then having to pee again!! Then the bladder empties much better. I have no idea what has happened to make it this way. I miss the good ol' days of sitting down!

I stand up to go pee and if I ever get SRS, Ill buy the Magic Fountain and still pee standing up. Its simply a matter of convenience. Now, I do sit down when I feel like it. Anyone who agressively confronts me about it or accuse me of being less of anything will receive a loud chortle and a "I really don't care," look. :) Have a nice bodily excretion experience!

I fully understand what you go through. In 1988 I was in a bad car accident. I was in a comma for 2 weeks, so I assume I had a catheter ( I think that's what it was called ) stuck in there for 2 weeks. I am pretty sure That's what damaged me, Every since then standing or sitting I've always have extra that did not come out till I was walking away no matter how much I "milked' it. AND the amount of the other stuff that came out during sex was a lot smaller amount after the accident too. So I am damaged down there in some way.
I really started sitting because partially because I am the one who cleans the bathroom and it just seems like the correct way to use the bathroom to me. The mess was bad no matter how careful I was. So now I just use pads. They keeps things clean down there. And using the pad is better than having it trickle down your leg. lol When you first think of doing everything like a woman it seems cool. But in reality being a woman is a pain in the ass. But what are we going to do? Women is who we are.

I will say that early into HRT, I noticed incontinance issues due to tucking and sitting while peeing. I started doing keegles, and that didn't help at all. I went as far as to "squeeze" out the last drops from under the scrotal area.
What fixed the problem was when I stopped drinking caffeinated beverages. No more energy drinks, limited amounts of coffee, and almost no more than a drink a week. I can now sit to pee... although I still have the occasional accident. What I do now, is I get some toilet paper *since girls wipe after they pee* and I cover the end of my penis while I stand up and tuck. Then I throw the paper in the toilet and wash my hands.
I hope this helps.

thanx everyone :) it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this kind of problem and the tips you girls are giving me are awesome. I really haven't even thought of using a pad to get the drops that escapes after you stand up so thank you for that.
Now I'll have to ask my mom to buy me pads , she still does my toiletry shopping since I never get time because of university
