A transgender woman has accused a popular Austin, Texas, lingerie store of discriminating against her, causing an outrage on social media.

Austin resident Kylie Jack says she was refused bra fitting services when she visited Petticoat Fair Saturday, asked if she was an 'anatomical woman' and told she would need to present identification proving that she was female.

'Hello Austinites: today I went for a bra fitting at Petticoat Fair, where an employee humiliated me by asking for ID stating I was female and saying I needed bottom surgery in order to get a fitting,' Ms Jack wrote on Facebook that afternoon.

Hm, that is very sad and also seems to be very unusual. I've heard that many transgender women get a lot of help at the lingerie stores. Actually, last year I had to go and buy a bra for myself to keep my chest in place, and the girl was really nice about it (well, she tried to be). She said "you don't have to be embarrassed. I think everyone is normal." LOL.

Believe it or not I am speechless. Usually the I 35 and I 45 and I 10 corridors in Texas is usaually fairly open minded. I don't guess in Austin though.

I read about this from a different source.  It sounds like the owner is sincere when he says he wants to be welcoming to trans women, but holy crap does he have a massive amount of ignorance on the subject.  Hopefully he can learn quickly, make a sincere apology, and do better in the future.
