Antoinette Konz, The Courier-Journal
A group of parents and community members have appealed Atherton High School's new policy that allows students to use the restroom and locker room of their sexual identity.
Atherton's site-based decision-making council will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the appeal, which was submitted in writing by Clinton Elliott, a Louisville attorney with the Christian-based legal group Alliance Defending Freedom.

OK, I'm going to make myself unpopular here.
I actually think schools need to tread lightly when deciding whether to allow trans girls in high school girls' locker rooms while changing is going on. This is not a simple issue.
IMO, all other aspects the policy are straightforward, but the changing room issue is more complex.

I totally agree. I don't think they should have to use the boys area either. This makes it difficult without adding individualized changing areas. I thought like shower stalls with a curtain for privacy though some may want doors.
It is definitely something that needs some more thought.

I can see it both ways. I think have a requirement of a transgender diagnosis and once you have it, it gets you in the bathroom/locker room that you identify with.

^^ this. Nobody would do that just to get in and if you are trans you should be able to use gender specific facilities. Just my opinion.
