Is taking HRT sublingually (i.e. under the tongue) vs regular mouth ingestion more effective?  I keep hearing different arguments over this and just was curious.  :-)

I have been on injections (one a week) for 14 or so days and I already feel quite a difference physical and mental. Of course injectable Progesterone was added as well. I just know my body is loving it. I wish I would have started with injectables and not messed with anything else.  :)

In short yes sublingual is better than oral.

This is more of a subjective topic. Some girls report better effectiveness from sublingual, others no real difference.  I'm of the mind that as soon as it's available to me, I will be going the injectable or implant route, as it just seems like a much more efficient and consistent delivery

I'm unfortunately stuck with the orals until I see my Endo in September. He wants me to wait and see how my next bloodwork looks after he doubled my pills last month after my insurance failed to pay for my injections he originally prescribed. I am taking the pills sublingual (under the tongue). My E from my last bloodwork was only 119 pg/ml. Despite that I am getting good development, but I feel the reason with such low E level has a lot to do with my IS condition. At the most I feel doubling my pills will bring my E above 200, which is still about half of what it should be on a full transition dose. So I feel the injections are an inevitability.

If I get the OK from my Endo at my next visit, I'll be starting the injections. I found a place to get them that I can afford so I'll order a 6 month supply so I won't have to put out so much financially every month.

Same here since I switched to injections. Has made a world of a difference! Wow!

Bio-identical or another sort? Because the half-life of bio-identical progesterone is very short and it has to be injected DAILY.

Overall, it appears that levels are higher on sublingual but fluctuate much more. Whether this translates into better feminization, I'm not sure but it seems like it does, in some.

I took my orals sublingually, mainly to theoretically reduce liver strain.  Whether or not that actually made any difference, I can't really say.

What I can say is that it got irritating leaving the tablet under the mouth waiting for it to dissolve.  I've got better things to do first thing in the morning. I've switched to pellet since, and disregarding the minor scarring (I heal poorly), it's been a godsend.

Thankfully I haven't had this problem and I only have to put up with doing this one more month. I may just go ahead and order my injections on the 1st or 3rd (I already have rx) so I don't have to wait for them to come in.

When I first started hormones back in May 2001 I did injections, and did this all the way up to several months ago. Now I'm on the tablets. I don't know whether they will work as well. Other than a general well being in my mood, I haven't really noticed much else different except that when I look at myself now I don't get upset anymore. Body isn't getting any of the negative affects that I had to endure with injections like nausea and constant mood swings nor breast pain (not sure if this a good or not). Also don't know any significant difference in how taking the tablets, swallowing or sublingual, but taking them sublingually in case it actually does do better that way, and if not, well then it just gets swallowed anyway, only slower. Either way, body and mind is getting what it needs. Now whether it is enough, I guess that'll be determined more in the long run, and if for some reason I feel it isn't as good as need be then I guess I'll be going back to shots again.

Maybe the mood swings were due to doing the shots too far apart. Levels tend to significantly drop after about 7-8 days. I have them done every 5 days.
