Title: Help with my voice!
Post by: MaryAnn on July 22, 2014, 08:36:10 PM
Hello, I'm MaryAnn and I'm not actually any good with introductions tbh.
I'm not into hormones yet. I'm not assumed to my family too, but I'm working into it. So I've really tried looking girly lately, though I'm no good, yet I can improve it I think. But there's something that has been letting me nervous: my voice.
I'll be posting here in this topic a recording I've done of my voice, so if you can listen I'd be glad! (and please do not laugh at my poor english! ): )
So, first of all, can you give me any tips or something like this on how can I improve that? I mean, as I've said before, I can't go to a doctor as of my age, but sounding male right now is really killing me off. I've tried some practicings but I've not improved a little bit. ;;
Second, do you think, by listening to that recording, that I can sound feminine anyway? I mean being in the pitch of a girl too.
Next I'd like to know if by taking hormones my voice will change anyway.

Thank you all from reading this, I'm sorry my english is reaaaally poor and I hope you can help me out. Kisses!
Just noticed I've posted that in the wrong section. ;;

HRT does not affect your voice at all. However, anyone can sound feminine and have female pitch with practice.

Your recording does sound pretty feminine to me. ;)  It sounds like you may have lost control briefly toward the end, but otherwise I would have almost certainly gendered you as female based on your voice. Keep on working to develop more strength and consistency, and don't be afraid to actually use your voice in front of people. When I started working on my voice, I quit using a masculine voice completely, and I think not giving myself the choice to revert to a male voice helped me a lot in getting to the point of having a passable voice. Now my biggest problem is whenever I have to do things on the phone involving people who have my male name in their records, I have to explain what being transgender is in order for them to believe who I am. ::)

There are many many YouTube videos on how to work your voice into the feminine range.  It does take a lot of practice and persistence...

Not bad. Not bad at all. I bet if you really practice more, you can get to an even better level that you will even like. Hope you make it :)
