Keith Smith does informed consent. Should be able to get you in on a short notice if someone canceled. But I can usually get in with a week or two notice at the most. He uses an old school method. I have been on for almost 4 years with no issues. Just need to keep up with regular visits.

Informed consent says that you are of age, understand and accept the risks associated with the treatment regiment you are requesting. The doc will do an eval and make sure he doesn't feel there might be an issue. If you have any history of mental illness he may run you thru normal counseling channels before prescribing. They will have you fill out a series of paperwork releasing them from any liability. It takes about a week, to 10 days and two doc visits. One for the evaluation, blood draw and physical. The next is for analysis, prescription and of course the review of the IC documents. You do need to advise the scheduler that you are looking for that option.

I did not go that direction. I only found out Dr Smith provided that after going thru the counseling.  It was a good thing tho. The GT affirmed what I had been thinking and had no trepidations about providing me a letter knowing that I could have gone with IC.

I'm sorry to hear that. Doctors have there reasons. He has been taking care of transgender patients for well over 40 years. Not to say he is exactly right but he may have seen something he wants resolved prior to moving forward.. I have a ftm friend that I sent to him and he did the same.. I know of a good gender therapist in the same area as Dr smith. She is very helpful. Let me know if you would like her contact info.
