Title: Patch vs injections?

Currently I use a patch for my E. I've been having some issues with keeping it sticking to me. My doctor suggested that I may want to think about injections. I was taking it orally and she switched me to the patch because I'm over 40 and there is less risk of complications with the patch. Are there less with the injections also because it's not oral?

I haven't tried injections but all patches are not created equal - I started on Mylan 1/week patches and they are the worst - Big and clumsy to begin with and they didn't want to stay on at all - On the few occasions when they stayed on for 4 days or more they would cause a rash and intolerable itching - ENTER Vivelle Dot - Nice and small and stick really, really well - They are 2/week so you need to remember to change them more often but they are great at getting the job done. Good luck with your decision

Yes, injections also bypass the first pass through the liver, and are as safe as patches.
That said, I'm another vote for Vivelle. :) I also started with Mylar generics, HATED it, and switched to Vivelle and now have no problems with adhesive/staying on.

I'm going in after work today to have a nurse show me how to do the shots.

My endocrinologist is not a fan of the patches and my lab tests proved him correct - my estrogen level was very low. (I am post-op.) He immediately switched me to injections and my estrogen level is now "normal." After being on injections for a couple of months I have noticed a huge difference in me, both physically and emotionally.
