Title: Top Surgery Videos

So I was browsing top surgery surgeons and I came across one who actually has three videos on his site. One explaining the surgery and two of the actual operations. One keyhole and one double incision. It's pretty interesting I think, especially since there really isn't a whole lot of stuff out there like it, or if there is I haven't found it. I wouldn't advise watching if you have a weak stomach, even I had some trouble and I was the dissection king in biology class.

It's also nice to see a before shot in the videos of the chests. Gives a clear understanding of the types of chests each surgery is for.

Yea those vids are gnarly. Dr. Medalie has had them up for a couple years, he's the surgeon I want to go to. He has the most consistent result with peri/keyhole in my opinion and that's what I'm getting.

I wonder if I could opt to have my surgery filmed.. That would be insanely awesome.

I saw Medalie's DI video and it was fascinating after he finished cutting and lipo-ing.
I won't deny it was really interesting, think I'd rather keep that in the way back of my imagination though.
(BTW I think he's an awesome surgeon.)

If I had mine filmed I probably would just show it to people. Like wanna see something gross?
I'm not sure yet what type of surgery I want as I want to wait till I'm on T and see what happens there. I'm leaning towards peri/keyhole though as my chest is fairly small and my skin is pretty elastic.

I found the scary parts of the videos were not the actual operations, but the patients standing in front of the doctor to show him their chests. And I freaked out even more when I found out I have to send him the photos of my chest.
However, when I finally stood in front of him, I was surprised by his calming power and the process was much easier then I thought.
These videos are awesome and informational. When I first watched them I was a depressed, anxious, and somewhat suicidal freshman, but now I'm applying for medical schools. Never had thought that transition could really give my life back.

That was pretty gross. I skipped through though, so I didn't watch the whole thing. I really can't watch surgery vids on people, but when I was an intern at a vet clinic, I used to monitor spays and neuters.

That was very informational, and has convinced me that I should def. have double incision when the time comes.
@FTMKyle: I interned at a vet clinic for a while too, and at the end I even got to monitor (not sure that is the right English word, I was fetching implements for the vet and keeping an eye on the anaesthesia) a larger abdominal surgery. Luckily I'm not squeamish about these kinds of things unless it's someone who I know personally. (I fainted from the sight of my younger sister's IV when she was in hospital as a child.)

Yeah me too. I was very calm and not really dysphoric. I thought it would be horrible when I saw the video.

He'll probably never know how grateful I am for these videos because I'm going to a surgeon in state, but these have been the only things to let me sleep, some nights. I don't know why, exactly, but I find then extremely comforting.

For me it's comforting to know what's actually happening. It's not this big mystery anymore. And it's comforting to know how calm the surgery is, at least in those videos. He's just like well first we do that and now we're doing that and it's very professional and gives me a sense of trust. That's how I feel anyway.

Are you going to be the next big surgeon we'll be talking about on these boards? ;D
