Title: New to Susan's
Post by: CaraVolent on August 02, 2014, 07:52:38 PM
Hi ALL!  I just joined on here since I'm starting my journey transitioning from male to female.  I'm 35 years old and in the past 6 months I've come out to all my close friends and my co-workers.  I just saw saw my therapist recently and she is faxing a letter to a specialist I'm going to see on Wednesday of this month!  I'm very excited about starting hormones.  I'm also a bit nervous, as I want to make sure I stay mentally stable through the transition.  I just joined a YOGA studio and I've been going religiously.  I stopped drinking alcohol and I've cut my caffeine down to one cup of coffee one or two days of the weekend.  I want to get involved on the forum to meet new people wherever they are from and to make lasting meaningful friendships.  I feel as though my success in life depends on it.  I've been attending local tggroups now for the past 5 months.  Mostly religiously, but I've missed a couple.  One thing great that happened to me is a couple of Sundays ago in July I woke up and it was like a huge weight had been lifted off of me.  I began to buy women's clothing and wearing them out.  It feels so right to me.  Never have I felt this wonderful about myself.  Even with life's ups and downs I finally feel like I'm me, no matter what happens!  I've been getting permanent laser hair removal on the face now for 6 months and I probably have another 6 months to go, easily.  The results on my face have been fairly fantastic.  As I am not approaching this transitioning lackadaisically by any means I want to make sure that all my decisions from now until far in the future all lead to a wonderful, fantastic and passable transition.  I am very dedicated now that I know in my heart that this is what I have always wanted to be truly happy and to feel "correct".  :D

Thanks all, and I look forward to your responses and all your advice as well in other places in the forum.

BTW - How do I get a pic uploaded of myself for my avatar, subscribe/donation?

Hi Grace!  Love the "going boldly where no CIS gender has gone before".  I'm a big Trekkie, lol.  :)  Yeah, I'm surely going to be very involved with this forum during my entire transition.  I plan to do a youtube video of my transition as well as start to take measurements (weight, hips, chest, etc).   I'm very committed at this point in my life since I'm 35 and this will likely be the only chance I get to go through this.  Fortunately I have a lot going for me as far as my physical characteristics are concerned.  I've been keeping a log since beginning of this year (when I realized how serious this whole thing was for me).  So far, I feel I've made the right choices in mostly the right order.  It is a truly liberating feeling when you finally know who you truly are inside and are not afraid to hide it anymore.  Thanks for the timely reply! - Cara

Caravan, lol.  I put Caravolent.  Kinda a made up word that includes my new name.  Thanks for the kind introduction!  I'm excited to share my experience with everyone on here.  I'm also really interested in making some real friendships and expanding my world beyond this 2D screen and this city dwelling.

:)

Welcome!  Sounds like you are female for sure!  You have done lots of preparation for starting your HRT (hormones).

The gals here are great, and gave me a warm welcome, lots of advice, and hugs, when I came here shortly ago.

Just 7 weeks into strong dose hormones, my life has been changing in some amazing ways, as I have described in great detail in many other threads here.

I have very small female breasts already (my boobs are NEW, from about 5 days ago), great protruding nipples, feel euphoric, all my work and personal relationships are better now, I feel like I can handle any situation with happiness...the mental changes are even more stunning than the physical changes...

I am 56 years old, and the palms of my hands are equally smooth and soft as a 25 year old female!  I cannot believe it!

A very big hug...I think you will LOVE your female hormone journey...

Johanna.

Thanks JJ!  *hugs*.  I'm very excited about the journey.  I'm sure I'm emotionally and mentally prepared for it at this point.  I've become so darn happy over the past three weeks I already can't barely contain myself.  I hope I don't turn into one of those giggily overbearingly happy girl types.  LOL.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful words and kind attention you've given me.  I went to the Dr. today and got my prescriptions.  I'm taking Estradiol and Spironolactone.  He said in three months he would bump up the dosages.  I will admit I felt a kind of calmness wash over me a few hours later at work.  I'm sure I can expect more... much more! HAHAHAHAA  >:-)

Great combo -- pure bio-identical estogen such as 17 beta estradiol or estradiol valerate -- plus spiro -- works great most of the time.

I used estradiol valerate plus micronized progesterone (a pure bio-identical form of progesterone), no spiro yet.  Would prefer continuing like this.  I am 2 months into HRT with very nice results so far.

You should do very well with E and spiro --- maybe in near futre, ask you doc if he/she would allow you to add micronized progesterone to your regimen -- it sure helps with the "girls" (boobs).

Johanna.
