Title: A Fun Accident!
Post by: Dani Davis on August 03, 2014, 03:46:52 PM
In the evening and on my days off, I like to spend my free time casually dressed about the house.  In the summer I like to wear sandals with my outfits.  (As a man I wear flip flops in the summer)  Last night I was in such a mode and wore sandals about the house as I went about my business.

This morning when I awoke, I decided I needed to go to the local convenience store for some items.  I put on my man shorts and tank top.  Without giving it an extra thought, I put on my pink sandals instead of my flip flops.

I had shopped, stood in line, and made it out to my car before realizing I was wearing the pink.  What a hoot!  I'm still smiling.

(Ok I'm not as brave as Pansy but I sure had a lot of fun with it...smile)

I'm glad you were able to put the episode in perspective and see the humor in it.  I have a feeling we are far more aware of such subtle things than the people around us.

It probably isn't a Neil Armstrong moment, but it is "One small step for Dani..."

Thanks for sharing.

I am going to say......

YES, yes and yes

I agree sometimes small steps will let us take them larger one with little more ease.

It's all good fun..smile..and yes to all of the above.  And you're right Katy, we are far more concerned about the minutia on our persons than everyone else.  As has been said before, people are in their own world with their own concerns.  My choice of footwear is probably way down on their lists of "give-a-rips".

Accidents like that confirm for me the circular nature of self-confidence:
- If others noticed your footwear, they didn't react, because you wore it with confidence.
- You in, in turn, took their lack of reaction to mean 'you're fine' and didn't have any reason to question yourself.

I know that if I can pull of the Jedi mind-trick of going out 'en femme' with confidence, I could get a similar positive feed-back loop going.

I like it.  I need to work more on those positive feedback loops.
