I'm on hrt living full time hoping to have SRS as soon as I can. But truthfully as far as I'm concerned my transition is complete. I've been very lucky that I don't need any other surgery besides SRS. :)

I suppose there's more people doing that on low dose HRT though.

I'm just patiently waiting to start HRT. While I went the informed consent route, there's quite a waiting list to see a doctor and have to wait until October. In the meantime, I'm just writing in my transition blog and looking for work.

I am impatiently waiting to start HRT. Whilst I tried to go down the NHS approved route of waiting, delays and more waiting, after 6 months without even speaking to someone to discuss my dysphoria (and more than another month to go before speaking to the next intermediary) I've decided to begin self medicating (with medical supervision) after I get genetic storage sorted out.

I would advise strongly against that. Been there done that. Wasted money and lost time. I would spend my money trying to find a private doctor to help.
FYI taking or posting about that subject is taboo here.

Well down the HRT path.
Laser / electro mostly done.
Voice is pretty much perfect, except for when I first wake up or when I am being poor mannered and try to talk with my mouth full.
Working on securing everything I will need to go on the waiting list for SRS with Marci Bowers next year. And having my name legally changed (which is a HORRIFYING process in Colorado)!!
Been full time since the first week of June this year.
I NEVER get mis-genered anymore, in person or on the phone. It is so incredible, and I am so very happy.

Do you mean in general or in this thread?
It was my understanding that on the forum discussing dosages was prohibited but that there was nothing wrong with simply mentioning self-medication, in which case am I misinformed or have the rules changed?
I'm not advocating it just stating my own intention.
If you mean in this thread then I'll certainly respect your wishes as its originator and I won't mention it again after this post.
Either way as a moderator could you clarify the forums position, I do not wish to break the site rules or cause offence.Quote from: mrs izzy on August 05, 2014, 08:48:46 AM

I appreciate your concern for my health and the dangers associated with this action. I have sought a private doctor to help who will be monitoring my hormone levels and my health moving forward.
I do however find the following statement a little bit patronising.Quote from: mrs izzy on August 05, 2014, 08:48:46 AM

Eris
Eris,
The comment was not patronising it was meant to be helpful. Please don't self medicate, if you were thinking of that way.
I do understand the frustration BTW.
If you have a problem with one of my Mods bring out to me, and not on the board.
Thanks

OK, I'll bite...
Started therapy 12/22/12
Started HRT 1/21/13. Full dose 7/13.
Full time 3/21/13.
Came out to world 4/13.
Finished therapy 3/1/14.
Finishing laser on Friday.
Had 75 hours electro. Who knows when it ends, but I have little or no visible trace of a beard now. What I have left can be cleared in about 2 hours.
Orchi 7/15/14.
Legal name change 7/24/14.
-Future-
9/15 Cosmetic surgery. Well, if I'm getting some scars revised, I might as well end up drop-dead gorgeous when I wake up.
2/16 SRS. I'm 99% sure on this one now.
???? BA, etc.

Like Heather, I considered myself done with transition long before GRS. :) For me personally, I was finished once I was out socially and at work, with the documents and name changed. GRS was something I did for myself alone, later on, to make myself happier with my body.

I checked questioning. I'm debating hormones, and surgery scares the heck outta me. But I have come out to some family and friends. I have a therapist but have yet to say anything to her, I need to clear my head first about how far I want/need to go before taking the bigger steps.

Honestly, I don't know where I am. I'm on hormones and in the process of transitioning. I've come out to a few important people in my life and it's been going on for some time, but I have a hard time with making things permanent. I'm terrified of other people and have severe social phobia, so I guess I'm doing what I can to reduce that while working as hard as I can under those conditions. I've stopped making goals and decided to take things day by day. I expect to be full time at some point this year, but I'm not keen on looking like the man in a dress that I'll likely turn out to be, especially with my social fears. So, I'm sowhere within my transition, just don't know how to label it.

Light came on - 12/2013 (1st realized I might be trans)
First therapy session 1/2014
Came out to family 3/14-6/14
I am planning to ask therapist about HRT (low-dose) on Thursday.
All indications are that this will become full-dose HRT soon.

I put that I'm on hrt living full time and that I've finished my transition at top surgery, but I do probably maybe want bottom surgery eventually. One day. I'm not sure how to pay for that or if I can handle any violence to that area so it'll probably be a decade before I start making any plans around it.
My name change was my biggest milestone.

Questioning (again). I've been identifying as genderfluid, but I mostly live as a man even though I'm read as a young boy (my height doesn't help) or a very butch woman. I was thinking about going the FtM route very seriously for a while, but it honestly doesn't feel like a true fit. I'm continuing my soul-searching on the matter and when I can afford a specialized therapist I plan to get one. I'm loosely considering HRT as a future possibility and I'm as certain as humanly possible that I want the top surgery. As to whether or not I live full/half time, I really don't know. I'm just full-time myself, whatever this is.

Full time since January 2013 with HRT starting in March 2013. Non op so far but orchiectomy is being strongly considered and the process frustrating due to insurance and trans discriminatory "riders."
After waiting and denying myself for so long I feel everyday is a gift and a joy to experience myself ever closer to the person who once only existed in my mind as a shadow.

Questioning and In Therapy.
Logically I can see that I fit into the typical transgender mold (if there were such a thing) but emotionally I can't bring myself to actually accept it or refer to myself as trans. I am still considering life as a man and seeing if I can manage the feelings that go along with it for the sake of a happy and typical life. Or maybe I will click one therapy session and actually admit to myself that I am trans and female. Either way is scary really :/ but only time will tell.

Full time, feeling 67% better now that SRS is a "go"...did not realize how much having those dangly bits affected my mental health.

Oh, it's so fun to find your old posts sometimes!
Update from 7 months ago:
Started therapy 12/22/12
Started HRT 1/21/13. Full dose 7/13.
Full time 3/21/13.
Came out to world 4/13.
Finished therapy 3/1/14.
Had75 90 hours electro. Who knows when it ends, but I have little or no visible trace of a beard now. What I have left can be cleared in about less than 2 hours once a month now.
Orchi 7/15/14.
Legal name change 7/24/14.
-Future-
9/15 Cosmetic surgery. Well, if I'm getting some scars revised, I might as well end up drop-dead gorgeous when I wake up. It's starting to look like I can do most of it with laser skin resurfacing now. I'm putting off the "put me under" work until I REALLY need it.
2/16 SRS. I'm 99% sure on this one now. I'm almost 100% on this, but I don't have time to recover properly until June 2016 now. Still deciding between Bowers, Alter and Crane.
BA???? OK, with my massive frame, I pretty much need a "D" cup, or at least a "C+". Right now it's just north of a "B" and I'm padding daily. I'm less than a year post-orchi, so I'm inclined to wait it out until I'm sure they're not growing anymore. Happy 50th b-day, Jill? ( * )( * )
We'll see how much this assessment holds in 7 more months. LOL!
The good news is that I'm old news now and I've pretty much made it out the other side of transition now. I've been two years full time this Saturday, and I'm celebrating it with a few familiar faces around here.
Cheers!

I've been on hrt for 9.5 months and have been living full time for about 6 months.
At this point in my transition I am still feminizing further and my hormones are sadly still in male ranges, however if I were to suddenly stop feminizing further I would still be very happy with my results.
I have no plans at the moment to have any kind of SRS in the future. But I may eventually change my mind.
I also haven't done any of the legal paperwork yet because I'm too lazy, and don't particularly care what my "official documents" say.
I know who I am, my friends and girlfriends and family know who I am, and people in public see me as who I am.
My transition is a huge success and I am very happy!

I have been in therapy and full time since July 2014. My name and gender marker on everything including birth certificate were completed between July and August of 2014. I have been on HRT since 9/20 and full dose including spiro since 10/31 for the estrogen and 11/1 for Spiro. I started seeing the second therapist who will write the second letter for my first of two visits on March 12 of this year. As far as what is coming up. Both letters will be finished in the near future so the Meltzer has both of them in time for the consult in May. I've been told that because of how the insurance is handling it it's possible that a date for SRS is made at the time of the consult as a result I expect to be for sometime in 2016 and based on how far he is booked out likely late Spring or Summer of 2016. I go back in April to the Second therapist to finish everything she needs for the second letter.

Definitely on HRT (for a while :P)
Was hoping to come out to SO and move to part time, then into full time late this year...
Hmmm, still no work = no income stream = things on hold (luckily can still afford HRT... ATM)
Other than that... mainly happy, but occasionally feel a bit down due to not able to move forward :'(

I've come out to most of my family and close friends and am living as the man I feel I'm supposed to be pretty much everywhere except at work all though working in a male dominated trade as a "lesbian" I'm pretty much treated as one of the guys at work already. Oddly enough though the thought of actually coming out at work scares the crap out of me! I go see a counselor this week and am waiting to get in to see a psychologist just waiting for the referral my gp put in to go through.
My hope is to start on HRT within the next few months and hope that my name will be legally changed in the next couple of months.
Once these two things happen I will have to come out at work and while it scares me a part of me can't wait because living female at work and then being male the rest of the time is really messing with my mental well being and I hate living two lives I just want to be me!
Thankfully I have an amazing wife who has been my rock through all of this!

still questioning, honestly.
I'm trying to test out the waters; hopefully I can get a bidner (gotta figure out how to do it secretly though, gah) and some guys' clothes just to see how it feels, and see whether or not I truly would be more comfortable presenting in a more masculine manner. (which I think I know the answer but I'm still very much trying to figure out/come to terms with my identity)

Living as myself for 15 years, name correction at 11 years, have had rec for T for a year but not currently taking (likely will for up to 18 months but no more), planning top surgery for this summer (consults next month - and letter has been assured). I've never had a desire for SRS, and do not want a hystrectomy or oophorectomy.
I plan to complete medical transition between August 2015 - January 2017, depending upon if and for how long I go on T. I will not be going stealth.

Just over a year and a half on hormones, and about 14 months since going full-time. I've reached my max dose of E, P, and actually ditched my t-blocker (at least for now). I actually feel like I might not even need it anymore as the E and P seem to be doing enough. My boobs haven't really been growing anymore, I'm between an A and B cup. Considering breast augmentation but I'll wait a while. Only FFS type stuff I really want to do is my nose. Brow if I had extra monies but not a huge concern. SRS is probably in my future but not an immediate concern. Haven't legally changed my name yet (thankfully it's gender neutral), but will be getting a new license soon with amended gender marker. :) The changes have pretty much stopped or at least slowed way down, and I'm just living my life as a woman now. Any changes I want to make are just cosmetic, because otherwise I pass just fine.

My first hair removal session is scheduled for tomorrow. I've learned to look at being trans as a gift most people wouldn't understand and many of us don't either. When I first started I saw it as a curse. I've come a long way and my first year isn't until the end of May/beginning of June.

I'm nearing 4 weeks on my hormones. I count my transition as official when I began swallowing my Estradiol and Spiro, thats when I became full-time as a transgirl since my body has been modified on a cellular level. Anything before that is pre-transition and cross-dressing era in a male birth body.

I don't. I came out first. That was when I started my transition because it started socially not medically. However I was still a girl even before I came out to everyone. I didn't see it as cross dressing at all.
Its kind of like astronauts. Just because you haven't gone to space doesn't mean you aren't an astronaut. Astronaut training is what makes you an astronaut.
My therapist helped me to learn not to accept the end result of my journey, but the journey itself. Thanks to her, I've been able to enjoy my days and not just be impatiently waiting for it to end.

I am nowhere... Well, I can't exactly say that. I am well beyond the questioning phase (well, I think we all still have some questioning, right?), but I'm stuck there, as pretty much everything in my life has come to a pause because of medical issues.
However, whatever small amount of independence I have been allowed, I have seized. I wear (somewhat) subtly women's versions of everything for my uniform at work, and I have supportive friends.
Still, kind of sad to say that's all I could have managed nine years after joining this forum.

Updating my status:
I am now living full time and enjoying it. Unexpectedly finding that I pass most of the time.
On HRT 8 months and will need to make adjustments.
Electrolysis in progress. Fortunately between natural coloring and age the beard is very light. I'm sure I'll be doing weekly visits for another year.
I have made legal name change and am trying to catch up changing all the many documents with my old name on them,
I have no plans for any surgery except a possible SRS. I plan on living in gender for a time and hope that is enough to overcome the disphoria. Fortunately I don't have a lot of physical disphoria - so maybe I can live with the amount I do have.

I'm seeing a therapist. And have an appointment on June 30 with a new doctor who is listed as trans-friendly. My initial visit, I will be asking her straight out what she needs from me in order to start HRT. So a planned start date is still uncertain, as well as determining if my health will allow it. (but I am confident that that won't be a factor)

I am full time now and my name and gender change was granted by the court at the end of last month. My drivers license has been changed and so has my work ID. My financial records have mostly been changed and all of my insurance - medical, dental, life and automobile have been corrected. I have updated my professional licenses and have sent off a request to correct my college and law school records and to get new diplomas. It is really a pain to get all of these records/accounts changed over but I have to say that I have had a lot of great comments from the customer service reps when I have asked to have my records changed.
I still have a long ways to go before I will be done but it is all good.

I did finish my transition at top surgery and hrt. I did live full time as male. Now I'm in detransition, stopped taking hrt and living full time as my female birth sex. The only further transition-related procedure that I'm sure I want from here on is that I want a reversal top surgery, to reconstruct what was removed. Hair removal, etc, I'm uncertain of. Gotta give my body more time off from the testosterone first.

I'll go for the update too. I feel very comfortable with my transition and have a sense that this is good enough. While I have considered doing more, the risks, costs and uncertainty are not worth the possible gains to me. HRT, some laser, electrolysis and my orchiectomy have resulted in a very happy non binary sorta girl person. I don't fuss about passing or pronouns much and mostly even like my tenor to bass voice. And then I started late and had modest expectations that have been nicely exceeded. My emotional peace is the most precious gift along with a body that is simply a delight every day i start by giving myself a squeeze.
Of course i do have a magic wand and a creative, if simple, fantasy world where love and sharing prevails and all are readily satisfied. You know, kinda like those wonderful early cousins of ours, the bonobo monkeys? ;D

I started hrt at age 44, going on 6 years at the end of November, 2018. I just could not stand not being on hrt anymore(m2f tg). I commend all those before me who transition and/or detransition at their own volition. Science has yet to catch up on the rainbow of gender fluidity that is in nature. As more people come out, I feel more comfortable as to where I want to be, sans workplace and home location(working on those two).
I commend all of you :), for giving me more options to choose what to be in my personal life. Being gender binary sucked, but it was a necessary evil I had to go through and the people I met. Somebody had to trailblaze. I still remember my drill instructor at MCRD SD, getting in my face and call me in spanish in a low whisper, "Mujer". Still resonates in my mind, 30 years afterwards. I was like hey, I want to give it a shot at being a man, lol, needless to say, I failed(at times), to some, at the moment, remains to be seen.
I'm still under construction, pardon my sweat...

I'm on HRT and have had an orchiectomy. My doctor likes my levels, but has offered more estradiol if I choose to take it. I declined, this is where I want to be. :)

Well it has taken many years to move forward, now I am 2/3rds done my facial hair removal, growing out my hair, and HRT is coming up in 7 weeks. So yes still under construction as stated above! Don't know far the project will go though.

I don't really know. I was part female all my life, and am in the process to finish up the last part that is still male to be turned into a woman (it is actually my plumbing only that needs to be changed)

I'm almost 15 months on mtf hrt. I don't feel like I'm where I want to be. There's a lot of things I feel I still need, but I don't have the money to afford surgeries and I think I need more time on hrt anyway. The things I want the most are long hair, less body hair and a nose job.

I am close to done. I still want GRS (okay, that's not minor, I know) and a trachea shave. I am not going for any other surgeries.
I consider the biggest part of my transition to have been social. Going full-time was huge. GRS is just fine-tuning the results, in my opinion.

I just put my FIRST estradot patch on yesterday ( although I live in the future (NZ) so my ticker is still confused...)
Living part time atm, although I have had a few public outings dressed overtly femme. For me personally I find facial hair the biggest thing that needs sorting before I feel comfortable presenting in public more often.

Quote from: Sonja on December 21, 2018, 03:08:11 PMGranted, I don't have a very dense beard, and the hair is very slow growing. All my dark hair was eliminated with two laser sessions, an I will start electrolysis in mid January. In the meantime, I am able to keep my facial hair very well almost invisible by using one of those 5 blade razor cartridges for a Gillette handle. I bet any other 5 blade wet razor will do a similar good job!

Lets see...
1.) Finding a gender therapist was the first thing I did to begin my transition, and I had my first visit September 1st, 2016.
2.) My legal name change was in November of 2016.
3.) I have basically been living as male for most of my life, but I started telling people my pronouns are he/him/his once I had my legal name change.
4.) I came out to immediate family slowly, but I "officially" started in May of 2017.
5.) I "officially" transitioned socially on National Coming Out Day, October 11th, 2018.
6.) I'm now doing top surgery research to find a surgeon that takes my insurance
7.) I'm seriously considering bottom surgery.
WOW, I've done more than I realized!

Odd options. I've bee full time a few years, on HRT longer, had bottom surgery and FFS. Social transition is essentially done. I may have one more surgery to tidy up loose ends, personal comfort issues, but it isn't really part of my transition.
I suppose I'm done.

I really don't know when I started with me reclaiming my body. I know that I had dreams about it 15 or 16 years ago. My body started to feminize itself about 4 to 5 years ago. I came out to a very small group of friends at the later half of last year, and I came fully out this summer. I live more or less full time as a woman (except those times when I go as a guy to repair shops).
I started HRT almost 2 months ago, and are not really effected by it. I will see the leading endocrinologist for gender issue in SW Florida early next week, to have him determine why HRT seems to have no effect on me. Also next week (actually a day after I see the endo), I will see an urologist to start discussion about an orchiectomy.
Once the orchie is done, I plan to start with the name change procedure (I need to do that for the Euro passport and for the US passport - this might be a new adventure!). I plan to have bottom surgery done as soon as possible, but will not apply a time table to it at the moment.
Where am I with my reclamation? Probably in the later half of it, or close to the end if I do not get bottom surgery.

Do you need to live full-time as female for a year to get an orchi?
If that procedure is considered a transsexual surgery for the patient, would it be covered under health care insurance?

Quote from: ChrissyRyan on December 27, 2018, 08:43:17 PMI hope I can sneak it in as a medical necessity. I have a lot of pain in my testes for quite a while now. Each time when i sit down, I have to make sure that they are well out of the way. If I can convince the doc, that it could be better for my general well being, if they are gone, insurance will pay.

Sometimes, not always, it helps when one can talk from medical professional to medical professional. Specifically if it is a surgeon, because some of my work made the life for all surgeons world wide a lot easier. I just need to connect my name to it, and some of them are excited to meet me!
I have to see how if goes. I sure will try to get it payed for by insurance.

I had GCS in 2016 and living full time with HRT
However would not claim transition is over, because there are still new and interesting things to learn in the social realm
