Title: A Clash of Two Lives...the Old and the New
Post by: katiej on August 05, 2014, 09:07:01 PM
I'm going to paint you a word picture. It's an unusually cool evening during a normally hot time of the year. This time last Friday it was 113F. Today...75F. Mostly overcast with little to no wind...it's just a beautiful evening.

So I'm sitting in my backyard, enjoying the weather, reading the latest issue of Redbook, and enjoying a nice cigar. Yes...in my unusual world reading a fashion magazine aimed at middle aged women is a perfect compliment to smoking cigars.  What?

It's definitely the clash of two different lives. Yes, women can smoke cigars, but most don't.  At least not as often as I do. :)

So the question is, what examples do you have of your old self hanging around and sometimes clashing with your new self?

As a guy, I always had a strict rule for ordering at a bar.  Beer or whisky...usually neat.  Sometimes gin and tonic.  Nothing colorful, too complicated, or having an umbrella or piece of fruit.  The only exception to the rule: anything goes when on a cruise or tropical vacation.

I might start breaking my rule now.  Girly drinks are delicious!

Tried to sell my wife that it was part of my paleo diet...she didn't buy it. The place makes mussels in a white wine sauce that is wonderful. The doorman calls me sir and  I call him little sweetie. I'm 6' and he is a dwarf at 5' ...little man syndrome..

Hi,

A clash of two life,s ,....Hmmm,..... Don,t think so , well not in my case ,

there would be very little i have done that i don,t do now and that,s not changing .
Only one miner detail and that,s all ,  i know many here will talk about transition and from male to female , and that,s where it does not apply in my case , or simply put . i could not change ether way , its a mix of both male and female  ,

So what would there be that would make my life different , I trained as a builder and still do that i wear work clothes that can suit men or women , does not bother me ,
I would be hard pressed to say my past is gone or i hate it or even to not talk about it , i do and that means evey one knows my past  that does not change who i am or thier view of myself and who i am as a person and as a female . woman  ,

Even with new people i meet i tell them im a chippy and proud that i was . still am , this of cause may be strange for many trans people because they wont no part of that life thier own  of cause,  because they are trying to be like women ,

This is where its so much different for my  self because of being born  female and male , I see no clash and as for old and new only in the sense of we  start a new day ,

My life has many changes and as i.v grown and a time to grow into a woman even so I,v allso matured along the way , my life all the way through has been right in all aspects , well most any way .

The most important aspect of my life has been being able to be my self and being open and how i express who i am  as a person first and as a normal woman ,

I still love to do heavy labor for some reason although since i have been growing my nails out more and more, i like it a little less.

My tastes have always been way on the female side.  Once, i bought a new car and my friend drove past my house one night after we had been out at the bars.  The next day i get a text, nice going, which one was she?  Me - wha?  Him - was it the redhead you were talking to outside?  Me - wha?  Him - dude, I saw a chick's car parked in your driveway last night, which one was it ->-bleeped-<-?  Me - yeah, that's mine.

Long feminine nails and men's underwear! :D

No just kidding. But really, for Evelyn, probably something like a men's essential. For instance the watch.

I love my Perrelet automatic and will still wear it sometimes en-fem.

My old self was very feminine so I really can't say i've experienced this. I don't even masterbate "that" way anymore.
Fruity drinks are AMAZING ^-^

"Same monkeys, different barrel" applies to me.

I still watch sports, order "one bourbon, one scotch and one beer" at my fave bar (Pabst Blue Ribbon- long story), collect and properly maintain a guitar collection, listen to metal, wear lots of black, operate power tools, fix whatever breaks, belch and swear.  I just do it all with a cuter butt now.

I swear the only change in taste is that I don't care for most "guy movies" anymore.  I'm not sure I really did in the first place.

Mmmmmm, cupcakes.....  :D

I've always loved cooking so I guess that actually fits better now.

I still drive a pickup truck and ride motorcycles, does that count?  Though I've always thought that was such an attractive thing when women do that.  Must be a rebellious spirit thing, who wants to sit behind some guy all the time anyway right?  :P

Jill, what kind of bourbon and what kind of scotch?

Buffalo Trace and Macallan 12, rocks (with a PBR) go great with the BBQ.  Bourbon and beer with the food, scotch for "dessert".

I gave up on motorcycles now that I actually care to live, but I have 8 bass guitars.

Meh...I am who I am and I like what I like. Transitioning didn't change any of that. About the only thing that changed was that I stopped wearing shirts of Death Metal bands. But that was something that was going to happen eventually. BUT I have recently begun to pick a few shirts of some bands that I like (such as A.C.). I might pick up some others on down the road, but it won't be like the old days where that was ALL that I wore. I still listen to Metal. I still listen to and play Harsh Noise. I don't worry about if something is "girly" and I often hate that kind of stuff. It's just not who I am. As far as the booze goes: I had to give that up since I started taking anti depressants. I had a very scary reaction combining them and alcohol so, I haven't drank anything in 13 months and 2 days at this point. I plan to keep it that way.

I don't know Buffalo Trace, but I love me some Macallan!  I prefer neat with a splash of water.

8 bass guitars?  You've got me beat.  I'm down to two right now.  And one is out of commission.  A couple months ago I went in to a local studio to do a session and I was really excited about using my fretless for this project.  It needed a slight truss rod adjustment, and while I was doing it the nut snapped off in my hand!  I was devastated.  The truss rod is still intact, but the nut just came right off.  I need to send it in for repairs...I just haven't gotten around to it.

Jill almost had it with the miata. :). And I always wanted a Cabrio when i was growing up btw!  It was a white MR2 spyder with red interior.  I tried to post a picture but don't know how.  The car itself isn't the girliest of cars, but in white, it kinda is, i get it.  It is tiny and cute, now couple that with the top down and my fluffy cinammon chow chow riding shotgun with sunglasses, and it all becomes very incriminating.

I like your style!  I love me some Buffalo Trace and MacCallan.

I also like my cigars,  especially CAO, La Aroma de Cuba, and Rocky Patel.  I will continue to smoke them, and drink my whiskeys (Tullimore Dew is my standard).

I have a slight obsession with guns, rifles in particular.  It may be a holdover from my days in the Corps, but I love military rifles.  Definitely not feminine unless the gun is pink or covered in sparklies.

I learned to drive on a pickup and grew up around the trucking industry (I love diesel fumes!) and on a farm (also love the smell of manure and silage), and I still want a honking big 4x4 thats about 40 years old that I can tow my pigs and cattle behind.

Unfortunately, I still don't have the whole "keeping legs together" thing down yet, so i still sit like a man.

Car CRZ, beautiful blue.

I do not like sports, never have.

I have not drank for 17 years, would love to though. I never drank for taste but that mango thing looks good. Do they make them in pitchers?

I quit smoking 6 years ago. Cigars, I never could handle.

I sell specialty items on the internet, as a hobby. I have been doing it for 17 years (started when my wife got pregnant, for extra money). The items are mostly associated with males.

Hmm, truss rod welded at heel.  If the nut broke off and can't be screwed back on due to broken threads, then the fingerboard has to come off.  If the nut goes back on its threading, then no big deal.

If the fingerboard needs to come off, then it def. sounds like a job for Rick. I don't know him personally, but I know lots who do.  I hear he's a nice guy.

And I'm working on the legs thing too.
