Hey everybody, I'm an Australian who has just moved to germany for a year. I want to start hrt but don't know where to start. I was going to start hrt in Australia before I left, but my doctor didn't deem it wise to start me on hormones if she couldn't be there to monitor my blood work and my health, which I agreed with.
So since I will be in Germany for a year, I want to start hormones, because I can't spend another year as a male.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you

In theory every doc prescribe hormons. But usually you need to get a letter from your therapist which you take to a endocrinologist. The therapist can give you this letter after one seating or after two years.
In which city are you living? I could suggest you a good therapist in Berlin and maybe a good one in Leipzig. In southern Germany it is usually much more time consuming to get this letter in comparison to Berlin where it is quite easy.

I'm living in Bremen. My largest concern is if they would prescribe hormones to me seeing as how im not a citizen.
Know of any good therapists in Bremen or Hamburg?

Are you in the public health insurance? Usually you should if you are working.
Do you speak German? It my be hard to find a Transgender experiencef therapist who speaks English. I do not know a good one your area but there are some lists out there where I could take a look onto.

Nar I'm not in the public health insurance, I don't start work until late september. I only arrived about 2 and a half weeks ago. Are therapists and endocrinologists expensive here? They are extremely expensive in Australia. I also think that my travel insurance may cover the therapist, because I payed extra for pre existing conditions, which include anxiety and ocd
