Title: Another 'X' number of months on HRT post :P
Post by: lemon_ice on August 23, 2014, 02:10:39 AM
Hi All! :)

Well as the title implies, I've been on HRT for some weeks which have somehow turned into a number of months, two so far I believe, :P so I'm going to write an emoticon infested post all about it. My apologies in advance   ;D

Well things have not gone to plan at all, the changes have been both a lot faster and slower than expected.. What I mean is that when compared to objective time the changes have been crazy fast, but then these two months have seemed like a lifetime, so kinda seem slow on my own personal subjective scale..
So to save writing a novel I'll summarise some of the big surprises in a handy list of what I expected compared to what's actually happened..

What I thought-/-what actually happened:

*No major facial changes for 6 moths or a year-/- My face has really softened and changed A LOT, I love it :)
*Minor to moderate hormone related psychological changes -/- The changes are just so deep and all encompassing, both scary and amazingly great!
*Would not come out to anyone until late this year or early next year -/- I'm out to pretty much everyone that knows me where I am right now, I will be coming out to everyone else as soon as I can see them in person.
*People would totally freak out about it -/- they didn't, women are almost universally awesome about it!
*I would gradually lose my upper body strength over like six months.. -/- after the first month I lost more than I ever thought I would in my whole transition.
*Insane boob pain -/- bad sometimes, mostly when its cold, not too bad usually, just sensitive, but I think I'm getting some good growth none the less.
*I would have lots of times when I would question and maybe regret my decision -/- I occasionally wonder what the hell I'm doing lol, but 99% I'm just so happy and am finally starting to like the person in the mirror :)

A couple of wild cards: Crying is less avoidable than predicted; hugs are a VERY big deal now, there seems to be some hard wired hug reflex now that I must try to keep control of now (seriously).

If I think of any more I'll post them up!!

And finally a picture of me two months in :) I know I'm nowhere even close to passing, but I'm at least still liking this "me" more and more every day, which is what counts I guess. I'll be having FFS in October to fix my unfortunate nose etc. which should help with passing in the future, I can't wait! That and my hair, hurry up and grow out!! :P

Well thanks for all of your support and advice, I don't know if I'd even be here if it wasn't for all of you amazing people out there! So thanks so much and free hugs to all :P

Congrats on your development!  And thank you for sharing you progress. From what I ha e leaned,  is that development varies from person to person, and most of the generic info found on the internet is just guessing or average statistics.
My endo was suprised when I told him of certain changes that were happening so soon.
Don't stress about the passing, you look fine from what I can see. but how you present yourself makes WAY more inpact of passing...

I think you will look cute with long hair. ;) I'm glad to hear you've been making good progress on HRT, because it really is completely unpredictable. It seems that the ways and the degree that the body is sensitive to hormones is one of the most widely varying things in the human population. I'm starting to think the only things that are for sure about taking hormones are that they will do something, and the longer you take them, the more they will do. Other than that, who knows? ::)

It's certainly something that I find interesting but rather hard to determine the cause of.. I mean actual HRT methods and dosages make a huge difference I'm sure too, as well as physiology; and when combined I guess that would explain the large variation.. I've always had really fine textured and soft skin on my body, widish hips, crazy flexibility etc. so maybe I'm a little more inclined to be responsive to estrogen or something, who knows.
And thanks for the compliment :) You're totally right, I'm still working on everything, but I'm trying to just let the shy, sweet and caring, but goofy nerd that I am have her way and hope it works :)

And thanks for the

Totally! Well fingers crossed they keep doing their thing, I hope things are going well for you too! :)

Aww thanks for the compliment, I hope so! I can't wait to find out :P I'm so damn lucky with my hair, I really feel for those for whom testosterone has damaged theirs... :(

Congrats! It's always fun to reach those initial mile stones (as of today mine is 13 months HRT and five months full time, woo!)

As for passing it's not just about looks, but that said I think you have a lot of potential there so I wouldn't sweat it too much. :)
