US: Parents beat 8-year-old to death because he played with dolls

The parents of an eight-year-old beat "every inch" of him, until he was dead, because he played with dolls, a court heard.
Pearl Fernandez, 30, and Isauro Aguirre, 34, beat their son Gabriel Fernandez in May 2013, the Los Angeles court was told by prosecutors.
The eight year old was beaten "for eight straight months", and he was "tortured more severely than many prisoners of war." The child wrote his own suicide note because he could no longer take the abuse.

It's great to see that this was reported repeatedly and CPS did something about it oh wait they didn't... From my own experience with CPS they often overlook everything and believe the parent if they say the kid can't be controlled and they're doing their "best". Spin in a few sob stories about how hard all this behavior is and how hard it is to be questioned on their parenting ability and CPS walks out the door after telling the parents everything the kid told them hopeful they would help. I guess I'm lucky to get to say my abuse was emotional and neglect for the most part so I'm alive and appear fine. Just another tragic story that could of been easily avoided. I'll take my comfort in that they lost their jobs but they deserve prison time for child endangerment or negligent homicide(?) right alongside the parent.

Parents who beat their children to death(no reason accepted except below) should get the death penalty then go to hell when dead.
This is the only reason why I would accept the death penalty.

The only time parents have the right to kill their own children, is when their child has a terminal illness and the child is in unbearable physical pain and there is no cure in sight.

My God Kira. I really hope this is a fake story. If not well... I just really have no freaking words. The only thing I got to say is I hope. I really, really hope. Not what I wish on them but nothing good or fast. Crap like this makes me lose hope in the human race. We talk about evil, beating an eight year old to death for playing with toys is pure evil. I am in tears and these two I hate and I don't hate anyone except these tow idiots.

Not sure I agreed with the headline. I believe the kid was beaten to death because his caregivers were sociopathic killers, not because he played with dolls.

Anyone that would beat an eight year old to death, your right suzi. Sociopathic killers and really, as much as I hate the death penalty, they really don't need to live in prison or whatever else. I just can't understand why or how anyone could kill and innocent child. :'( I won't even go what I think they deserve but it ain't nothing nice. An 8 year old innocent child. I found an LA Times story on the case.  The "playing with dolls" was merely one of the pretexts for the abuse.  According to the story, the day they beat him to death, they were doing it because he wouldn't pick up his toys.  It also appears that he was scapegoated (by which I mean when they needed a target he was the one they chose) since his siblings were not abused, or at least nowhere near as bad.

I'm not really sure I understand the details of this story. Was this child a suicide at the age of 8? Or did the parents actually kill him?

Either way, I have no words for my disgust.

I was wondering the same thing.

Suicidal kids of that age aren't uncommon, though. I came inches from killing myself when I was only 7 years old - this is odd, because a huge reason I was going to suicide was because of my therapist... Heh.

The last names are very telling...Hispanics or anyone from South America tend to be super conservative and religious. Unfortunately, violence is basically their twisted way of denying a reality and it's something that doesn't surprise me. Either way, this couple really took it out of proportion and I don't want the death penalty for them. No, I want their eyes gouged out, I want them to starve, I want them to beg for the gift of death except no one will give it to them. Death is too easy.
