What I find ironic here is that the state has a law requiring a person not to conceal their identity for a photo. On the other hand if this teen wears makeup all the time, then requiring them to NOT wear makeup is breaking their own laws, since the ID would never match? Isn't it? Or am I missing something? Anyways I thought there was some kind of supreme court ruling many years ago regarding not expecting males to be masculine or female to be feminine or does that only apply to the workplace I wonder? In any case, I hope they prevail.

I'm sure they could sue on several levels over that asinine ruling and prevail. No doubt another transphobic type trying to twist the system and costing taxpayers dearly while sticking his or her thumb in this kid's eye.

Today I called in on a local radio station call in show to talk about this. Basically I said that it is very important for transgender people to have their documents corrected (picture, name, gender marker) and it is often prescribed by their therapist because many of them (us) go on to do pretty drastic things, even commit suicide if they aren't able to fit into their gender identity. It helps them affirm their gender and identity. I also said he would have a case given all the landmark court decisions regarding equality for LGBT. They also asked how many trans* people are out there, I said it's hard to tell because many disappear into society once they are transitioned but I would say around 1 million or about 0.3 to 0.5% of the US population. They asked what the gender marker was, I said basically where it says Male or Female. This was a pretty conservative radio station btw, not to the level of Rush Limbaugh or anything, but leaning rightward.
