Title: Does binding your feet and ribcage(corset training) actually work?
Post by: keityp on September 05, 2014, 10:04:03 PM
As I have said in my previous post that I can't find girls clothes that fit because of my ribcage and I can't buy shoes because my size is a 9.5 womens. So, after reading some posts and I just found that there is a way to reduce your neck size!(neck binding and no I'm not kidding read these post here https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php?topic=138234.0 )also my other question is, does corset training reduce your shoulder width? since some of them cover your upper ribcage which means it may help changing your position of your clavicles and having them become"binded" as well.

I'm all ears if you have answers and/or suggestion

First, check out crossdresser.com  for female clothes cut to fit men and are gorgeous! For shoes Payless has sizes up to 14. I wear a women's 12 and have found some wonderful shoes. I really do good during their periodic buy one/get one sales.  :)

Ok, as for the other stuff binding on feet doesn't work. Corsets can reduce your lower rib cage, but it does not work overnight. You are sadly stuck with shoulder width as nothing I know of can alter them.  :)

Well, foot binding does work, but if you do a Google image search on it... it isn't pretty. :-\

Foot binding is known to hobble people, basically make them disabled. It used to be a common practice for girls in one of the eastern countries.

Corseting works for a waist line.. You are stuck with your shoulders. Here's a tip to make the shoulders appear smaller - pad out your hips and ass.

And I don't think binding your neck is a good idea - any significant pressure on the neck will compress the blood vessels, restricting the blood flow to and from the brain. It will also compress the pharynx, larynx, trachea and oesophagus, possibly leading to issues with breathing, talking and swallowing.

A word on foot binding: never.

That's all.

Yeah, as far as the shoe thing, I was a 10 or 11 depending on manufacturer when I started HRT. I had a TON of trouble finding 11s, and 10s were rare. I was immensely grateful when I ended up a 9.5 (as low as 8.5 in a few shoes, what the heck), because that was part of the standard size line most stores seemed to stock. Maybe it's just my area? But I always thought of that as a common-enough-to-stock size even in cis women.

ROTFL!! Thank you for making me laugh. I needed that.   You did forget the 'voice/larynx surgery' and the finger digits cut down to proper cisfemale sizes...heck, why stop there!  Do the toes too!  Oh and somebody please strip out my dna and reinsert the proper number of x's or y's or whatever else is needed to be a woman.

If this were reasonably possible, I bet many people would do that.

Or... After all that, maybe it's easier to work from the other end and do simple brain transplants with ftms.

Fwiw my cis wife wears a 10 shoe.

How I wish I wore only a 10 or 11, but noooooo I have to shop for 13's.  Payless, Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack, Zappos, and Amazon are my friends!!!   :o

Regarding corsets, be careful!  The corsets you by off the rack are more for looks and don't do a great job with waist training.  To do that, find someone to make you a custom corset but be prepared because they aren't inexpensive.  Sarah

12s or 13s here, depending on brand. I've had sci-fi like dreams of total bio makeovers. :P Wishful thinking.

Um, well, it could surely work but the results wouldn't be pretty. Women in China bound their feet to make them small, petitite and look more fragile. It was thought women with large feet were unattractive. It started with noble women, but soon the practice spread out to the general population, and suddenly most women had their feet bind as children by their own mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc. And all in name of beauty. Since their feet were bound as a children, these women would have incredibly small disproportional feet for their height and weight as adults, they would be severely deformed and walking would be very painful. Their toes were broken and squeeze under with great force, and the bones would all break, they would bleed and be in great pain. All because men wouldn't marry women with unbound feet, so it actually became a fashion to bind them.

Women with bound feet couldn't walk properly. Many men had a fetish for bound feet, because of their fragility and the power they had over their wives to move freely and control them. Yes, because many men thought bound feet would prevent their wife from running away with a lover, cheating on him, or just end their marriage as she depended greatly on him. So it became a control practice, a weapon for men to oppress women.

Binding anything in your body will have horrible results and it will ve very painful. So please don't do it. It's crazy. Binding your neck could potentially kill you, for example, as it could cause problems with breathing. You won't like the aesthethic look of anything bound in the end and there are no professionals who would advise you to bind. You know, women come in virtually all shapes and sizes, so trying to an achieve an ideal of perfect proportional women, just remember she doesn't exist. So many women are unhappy with their proportions and body sizes because culture imposes unreasonable beauty standards, which are just impossible to ever reach. So please don't fall in this trap. Besides what you want to do will have horrible results, anyway. There are some things we just better accept as they are, they don't make us in any way less beautiful.

Don't become a captive to artificial conventioned beauty. You will regret it and go through great pain if you hold yourself to this standard perpetually.

x

EDIT: Oh, just to sum up, and to answer your topic question. No, binding does not work.
